This award is sponsored by the Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals, an umbrella organization of the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders. In order to be considered for the award, a nomination by a peer is required. Once nominated, a resume must be submitted to the GAESP Board of Directors to determine the recipient. "I am very fortunate to work in Fayette County and have a professional staff of educators, support personnel and administrative staff at Fayetteville Elementary who all strive for excellence in education," says Corley. "This recognition could not be possible without the hard working, professional and dedicated staff at Fayetteville Elementary and the active support of the superintendent and the Fayette County Board of Education." Corley will be recognized at the business meetings of the GAESP during the winter GAEL conference, Feb. 5, and the summer GAEL conference, July 17. She will receive a framed certificate of recognition at the annual GAESP fall conference in November. Corley was recognized by the Fayette County Board of Education Jan. 22 and was presented a certificate of achievement for being named one of Georgia's Distinguished Principals. As a Georgia Distinguished Principal, Corley will apply for the National Distinguished Principal Award, which will be determined next year.
