Fayetteville seeks grant
Fayetteville officials are preparing an application for the Atlanta Regional Commission's Livable Centers Initiative program. For this application, the city is focusing on creating a redevelopment strategy for the Ga. Highway 85 corridor between Dunkin Donuts and Ga. Highway 314. A resolution to participate in the program and provide local matching funds was approved unanimously Monday night by the Fayetteville City Council. Awards for individual grants are limited to $100,000. Recipients must provide a 20-percent match and guarantee that planning studies be completed prior to December of 2001. Fayetteville is requesting the maximum $100,000 for the execution of the Hwy. 85 redevelopment strategy planning study, which would also provide design guidelines for redevelopment as part of the finished product, according to city officials.
