Ruby Tuesday gets variance, is now open Ruby Tuesday, which is now open on Ga. Highway 85 North across from Fayette Pavilion, received approval Monday from the Fayetteville City Council for a third sign on its new building. The restaurant applied for a variance because a third sign would not be permitted under the city's recently amended sign ordinance. City staff, however, recommended approval in this instance to protect the aesthetic environment of Uptown Square development and because of limits on placement of ground signage at the site. Even with the third sign, the total signage will be less than the 7.5 percent of total wall space allowed for lots with double frontage. Councilman Larry Dell specifically cited this point when making a motion to approve the variance, which passed 4-0. Ruby Tuesday was scheduled to open at 4 p.m. yesterday, according to a spokesperson for the restaurant.
