Woman injured in two-car wreck By JOHN
MUNFORD A Fayetteville woman was seriously injured in a two-car accident Friday afternoon at the intersection of Sandy Creek Road and Sams Drive. Maj. Wayne Hannah of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department said Larissa Beth Tackett received extensive injuries when another car pulled out in front of her. She was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital by a Lifeflight helicopter. Tackett wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time, but a 1-year-old child riding in a child safety seat in the vehicle was relatively unhurt, Hannah added. Tackett, 19, was driving her 1990 Chevy Corsica on Sandy Creek Road when a 2000 Ford Mustang driven by Lydia Anne Farman pulled into her path, Hannah said. Charges will be filed against Farman for failure to yield at a stop sign, he added. Witnesses told deputies that Farman, 16, had been waiting for a while at the stop sign due to heavy traffic on Sandy Creek Road, Hannah said. She was attempting to turn left onto Sandy Creek Road when the accident occurred, he added. Tackett's injuries would likely have been minimized had she been belted in, Hannah said. There are no indications that speed was a factor in the accident, Hannah said.
