Frady to manage Collins campaign here

Fayette County Commissioner Herb Frady has been named Fayette campaign chairman for the reelection campaign of U.S. Rep. Mac Collins.

Collins, of Hampton, easily won the Republican nomination to continue representing the 3rd District, which includes Fayette County, in the General Primary July 18, and will face Democrat Gail Welch Notti of McDonough in the General Election Nov. 7.

Frady said this week an organizational meeting is planned Monday, Aug. 21 at 8:30 a.m. at Melear's Restaurant.

“I'm just trying to solicit help,” said Frady. “We've got a pretty fair group going, but we need a crew to put out signs and things like that.”

Frady also is running for reelection in November for his third term on the commission, but is unopposed.

Currently in his seventh year as a commissioner, he is a native of Cherokee County. He has owned a number of businesses, including several restaurants, and is now retired.

He has served as city councilman and mayor of Peachtree City.

Although Collins is the incumbent and thus better known than his opponent, his campaign workers and voters should not underestimate Notti and fail to participate, Frady said.

“Some people might underestimate her, but I don't want to. That's why we're trying to get organized,” he said.

For information or to get involved in the campaign, phone Frady at 770-487-9203.
