A reason for us fiscal conservatives to smile!!!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The economy grew at a faster-than-expected 5.7 percent pace in the fourth quarter, the quickest in more than six years, as businesses made less-aggressive cuts to inventories and stepped up spending.

Oh Happy day!!!!

...maybe this will help shed some light on the inner psyche of people like AHG, Lindsey, moc, and the other "disappointed" Repub bloggers:

"Our disappointment begins to curdle, to turn back on itself, poison the heart, turn us nasty and low. It shifts from merely being a national mood or general temperament, into a way of being. A wiring, deep and harmful and permanent. It's all very disappointing, really."

Why Are You So Disappointing?

if by disapointment you mean giddy, Funny, etc..

It like watching a Nascar race just waiting for the big wreck.

I see Obama and crew going left around and around very fast. I'm just waiting for the crash.

But then I know the answer to that. One of us is disappointed, my liberal "friend". But it's not me. This past year has been a joy to observe. "Change We Can Believe In" in action. Obama proving daily that he is in over his head, the Democratically controlled Congress working like a finely tuned instrument, health care "reform" graft and greed, Guantanamo still open for business, New York City telling Obama to take his terror trial elsewhere, Teddy's seat going to a Republican, need I go on? What exactly would I be disappointed in? Lots of voters around the country with bad cases of "buyers remorse" might be disappointed. But not little ole me.

Oh, I really enjoyed This Week on ABC this morning. Watching your goddess Arianna "Huff and Puff" and Paul Krugman taking Obama to task for his mistakes was good TV.

By the way, linking to San Francisco newspapers now? Guess you have to search farther and wider for "like-minded" people to tell you what to think......

Don't make it not true....but it don't make it true neither.

Meanold, I guess you're happy right along with me.

1) Conservatives tell us the stimulus didn't work as the economy grows.. and a poll I've already posted of actual economists showed that the stimulus HELPED our country's economy.

2)Republicans, in their vigor to oppose anything Obama says and does, lined up on the side of big pharma and large insurers in the healthcare debate. They earned The Lie of the Year award with their "say anything" smear campaign pushing a fake "Death panel" story.

3) Obama's birth certificate? Orly Tates? Seriously?

4)Republicans delivered to the Democratic Party, the 23d Congressional district in New York for the first time in an hundred years.

5) Republicans CELEBRATE sending Senator Brown, a PRO ROE vs WADE politician, to Washington!!!! Brilliant work guys!

6) The GOP opposes The President of our country telling school kids to work hard and stay in school.

Yes, MOC. You guys have really showed us what your party is made of and what they stand for.

But as for our President being in over his head, he would beg to differ. SNL said it best: Republicans bringing him to their policy meeting to debate without teleprompters is like saying, "Let's throw Aquaman into the water and see how he does then!"

I'm enjoying the ride too. Glad that, on this, we can agree.

Here was my favorite Obama bit of truth:"You guys go to ribbon cuttings in your districts for stimulus projects that you voted against."

Skyspy, whom I like a whole helluvalot, thinks our president can't speak without a teleprompter. The house republicans learned very differently last week Eye-wink.

You have a link to "The Young Turds"? A liberal talk show that used to be on the late, great Air America Radio? I'm supposed to take their analysis of anything seriously? Mean Scream must have turned you onto them. Try some adult company for a change.....

What is "The Lie of the Year Award"? If that is a legitimate award then Obama has been fleeced. Has he kept any campaign promises yet? One?

You keep consoling yourselves with the thoughts that we lined up with big pharma and big insurance to derail the health care debate. The majority of the country didn't want that pork laden, entitlement giving, back-room vote-buying, cluster-%$&# of a "bill". Polls showed it clearly. The people of Massachusetts were smart enough to stop it dead in it's tracks, unlike the leaders of your party.

By the way, Senator Brown winning the election was brilliant. See Hack, many of us know that Roe will never be overturned and don't ever think about it (unlike you guys). That is "water under the bridge". The health care "reform" could be stopped though. And, it only took one election. The most liberal state in the country, in a moment of clarity, said "NO" to taking the country that far left. It was a bitter defeat. I would try to spin it into "you dummies elected a pro-Roe candidate" myself, if I were in your misguided shoes.

One more thing Hack, since you are my blogging buddy. I would stick to SNL for analysis of Obama, if I were you. Those grown-up political analyzers on Sunday morning see things very differently. I get just as entertained by them as you do by SNL. Ironic, huh?

Dude, are you having an off-day today or are you doing too many things at once? Where do I start?

You can easily find opinions on both sides of the TARP working. A fresh Google search lists several. The newest one I found (yesterday on CNN money) quotes the government watchdog for the TARP, and he says "NO":

"The watchdog charged with monitoring the government's $700 billion bailout unleashed one of his harshest criticisms of the program to date, questioning its overall effectiveness.

In his latest quarterly report to Congress, special inspector general Neil Barofsky said that the Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP, has failed to boost bank lending as well as halt the spread of foreclosures -- two key aims of the sprawling program."

TARP czar not drinking the same KoolAid Hack is guzzling

I watched the "Sermon on the Republican Mount" clip. Interesting how you and DM seem to think this two party system and pushing back has just come into prominence since your fellow got elected. The previous 8 years you guys did EXACTLY what we are doing now. You guys fought back on everything proposed and called Bush everything in the book. Role reversal. Ain't it sweet?

Also, were you guys thinking about the "good of the country" with your health care reform? Well, problem is the majority of the country didn't want or need you telling them what they needed. They told you in Massachusetts what was for the "good of the country". And, if you don't think Obama and all the Dems who tried to swindle and cram that bill through aren't thinking about their own party and saving their seats rather than the "good of the country" you need to join Mean Scream at Chuck E Cheese for her next progressive open mike night.

Next, that Republican Rep confronted Obama with 86% increase in his spending. But, before he could get... but, but, Buuuush out of his mouth and deny it, the guy told Obama his very own DISCRETIONARY spending was what was increasing 86%. Obama's response, "we'll look at those numbers and talk later". Hmmmm.....

Then, my statement was we know Roe will not be overturned. Watch your very own video you linked. 19 pro-life Democrats wrote Princess Pelosi and told her "no dice". Refusing to allow it to be crammed into crappy health care legislation to be paid for by the taxpayers is way different than overturning it. Come on Hack.

Last, please don't waste my time clicking on a stupid News Hound link you send as an argument to support your position. That's 5 seconds of my life I'll never get back. Those type sites are supposed to be used when you, Mean Scream and Basmati/Sniffer/Locke play amongst yourselves.

Later playah....

I get a kick out of my GOP friends arguing with themselves in the same post:

This is you doing the bu bu butt Bush thing:

"The previous 8 years you guys did EXACTLY what we are doing now. You guys fought back on everything proposed and called Bush everything in the book. Role reversal. Ain't it sweet?"

And then you use the bu bu butt Bush thing as a criticism:

"Next, that Republican Rep confronted Obama with 86% increase in his spending. But, before he could get... but, but, Buuuush out of his mouth and deny it, the guy told Obama his very own DISCRETIONARY spending was what was increasing 86%."

I will ask but one question MOC. Since you guys know Roe vs Wade will not be overturned,

When should we expect to see a pro choice candidate for national office offered up by the GOP?

Don't really have much time Hack, but here is the bottom line:

To answer your question, I don't know. How do you arrive at these tangential questions anyway? From me saying I don't think it will be overturned to our party nominating someone who believes like you do? Long leap man, but then who ever thought a white person could get elected mayor of Atlanta again. Oh wait, that didn't happen either.

Submitted by kevin king on Tue, 02/02/2010 - 7:42am.

You stated two things with certainty:

1) The President (who went solo down to The House Republicans' Issues
Conference with no teleprompter) is "in over his head."

and

2) Scott "Centerfold" Brown's election in Mass. was absolutely a referendum on health care.

I could easily say republicans know not what they bought. Most conservatives I talk to didn't even know he was pro choice. I would say he was the better candidate. But if you try to say it was about the 1 issue of health care, you've got to help me understand what republicans LOSING the 23d district in New York was a referendum on. Health care was actively debated then. So what gives?

Tangent - diverging from an original purpose or course.

My question wasn't how we got on Roe. It was how you made that quantam leap from "it won't be overturned" in my mind to pretty much "well, since it won't be overturned when will you have a top of the ticket pro-choice candidate". I mean, do you think it would ever go away as an issue either way?

On the other issue Hack, all candidates have warts. The goal was stopping that "reform" nightmare, which it did. Had a Dem won, the 60 seat majority was intact and the "Reid and Pelosi, dog and pony show" would still be alive and well. Who knows what the people of New York were thinking in the 23rd district? But lots of people smarter than me were/are calling that Massachusetts election a referendum on the health care reform. If you want, you can color it a different shade. Here's to hoping your party leaders do the same.

Hey Kevin if you and your better half are in town on Fat Tuesday come on by. I have a new drink recipe and also my bourbon pecan cake isn't so bad either. Since the bourbon in the cake itself evaporates, the secret is to substitue bourbon for half of the milk in the frosting recipe. I hope you can come, you both have a lot to celebrate with Anna's recovery.

hack what you and other democrats fail to recognize from this story, even as you are touting it as a vindication is that is actually proves conservatives right. according to the story, ALL THE GROWTH CAME FROM BUISNESS SPENDING MONEY AND INVESTING, not from stimulus dollars! The conservative approach to kepping the gov't out and letting the free market heal itself would have resulted in much better response by the economy and fewer job losses, and this proves it! Why is it every time Obama announces a stimulus this or that, the stock market goes down? All of that stimulus money you think is doing so much good is just going to hurt the economy in the long run when we have to pay it back. You just cant admit that our method is better, even with the evidence staring you in the face.

Not sure what school of economics you went to, but they must have used crystal balls and chicken bones as tools.

Here are some more useless facts for you:

Where did the automotive factory jobs get their boost Renault?

You might recall that conservatives would have been perfectly happy if American companies like GM and Chrysler just dissolved. Remember that? Now conservatism is fueling the recovery under a democratic president and congress? Ummm....okay, sure.

I didn't praise democrats or fry republicans. I simply stated for you gloomy doomy repubs and conservatives too embarrassed to call yourself repubs that you have something to be happy about. you DON'T understand me correctly. First, I just don't normally use Reuters as a source for economic info. Second, I honestly don't have any idea what that reported "growth" means to Sally Sixpack. What does it mean to you? Now if Kroger or Publix published an ad saying "5% Sr Citizen discount now applied EVERY DAY" that MEANS something to me--and many others. I also understand that last week's market drop cost me about Thirteen hundred bucks!Cost my wife more than that. Unless economic growth turns into job creation, we're still sucking wind so far as citizen survival is concerned. And you can keep your fat-free BBQ! Think I'd eat Cy's Brisket before that.
