Goodnight Hooterville

I must extend my apologies to all of the regulars on the Citizen’s blog. Bonkers, Spyglass, S. Lindsey, bad_ptc, meanoldconservative, sugarfoot, davids mom, mudcat, and all the rest of the gang. I won’t address Joe Kawfi (phonetically cof-fee. Gee, how clever.) who is the fictional character in the bunch. He makes the most outlandish right-wing, bigoted, hawkish comments here. His role is only to play the lighting rod, so that the others can all jump to defend him (and each other) from detractors, putting themselves in a much less hateful and benevolent light of course. They all want to say it, but even behind their facads in cyberspace, their really too embarrassed. Oh! and lets not forget old Cyclist. He’s the grump in the room that sleeps in the corner, awakening now and again to spout “Lies! He’s a Liar! Lies I say! Then his snuggie gets unbunched and he nods back off, snoozing comfortably in the embrace of good talk and good friends.
But too my point. My apology is for not recognizing the audience here or the character of the blog itself. (And I grew up in Georgia!) A hundred years ago, you folks would have been the old townies, sitting around the pickle barrel in the dry goods store, floor covered with fresh pine shavings, playing checkers and solving all of the problems in the world. The idea is to disabuse everyone in the “younger crowd” of having any idea of how things really work and decry and bring to the light the sinister nature of “big gov’ment” and the new world order. They would spin yarns about their days in the service, defending this very same God fearing country against the hobgoblins and commies. (Today’s boogie man has changed, but the principles all still apply.)
Some things however, never change. The colored folk are still a problem. It’s harder to talk about it, but then, one of ‘em goes and robs a convenience store and does everybody a favor by opening the door to discussion. We all love the police, but they still can’t shoot straight. Where do they get off wasting bullets WOUNDING a man! Poor training is what it is.
Some on here are women, a huge break from tradition, but whatta are you gonna do. It was easier to just ignore them when they walked into the store back when. Others here pose as women. Better to have a well rounded discussion where the Right is Might and the gals are welcome too. (I’m sure some of your fathers and grandfathers would have liked to pose as women, but then, it was a lot harder to hide it back then.
So now, with a better understanding of the nature of the board, I’ll retract my earlier criticisms, crawl back into the bushes, and let you all get on with trashing the Mayor and the council, discussing the merits of a 9mm compared to a .45 and, with infinite wisdom, seeing far beyond the horizon, and through the confusion of a persons actions to the unseemly truth of his intentions.
So Peace, the train’s commin around the bend. Enjoy your television programs, your AARP discount cards and most of all the willingness to share with us, the undeserving.

with this comment: Oh! and lets not forget old Cyclist. He’s the grump in the room that sleeps in the corner, awakening now and again to spout “Lies! He’s a Liar! Lies I say!
Go back and read Cyclist's comments and you will realize that he is not the grump in the room, and he ain't all that old either.

It's not easy being the carbonunit

Ahh, Hooterville. "Green Acres" and "Petticoat Junction". Now that was good TV!!!!

Bad news though Mikey. The way you spell and your writing in general would place you a distant second to Arnold Ziffel, in intelligence and personality.

I just remembered to ask, do you by any chance have long white hair? And a pretty pink sweater?

Absolutely hilarious, I’m still laughing! Nice end to an incredible week…

Probably more realistic if you recast Rahm Emanuel or even George Soros as Hitler and Obama as the nervous general loosening his collar. And you'd have to add a bit to the end where he sends Obama out to demonize the banks and destroy the stock market, which really did happen yesterday. Come to think of it, Soros' role in this administration should be investigated.

I swear these fools still think they are campaigning and worst of all they are not trying to be populist, but instead they are pandering just to the extreme left wing, wealth-envy, redistribution loons.

Keep it up. Every day more and more people jump off Obama's bandwagon and into a tea bag. 5 points in Massachusetts will look like a small margin when November 2020 rolls around. Obama's agenda can be stopped and should be.

Need proof? This from today's Krauthammer "In a Fabrizio, McLaughlin & Associates poll, 78 percent of Brown voters said their vote was intended to stop Obamacare" and probably half of them were Democrats and independents. That's how elections are won.

Peggy Noonan's take on this whole thing is perfect. She calls the Dems Nuts and the Republicans Creeps and she's right on in her analysis of where the country is right now.

She's a better writer than most and is not a bomb thrower like Ann Coulter or so many others.

PrezBO really needs a weekend retreat with some of his more mature advisors to rethink this whole strategy of demonization and redistribution.

He may be setting himself up for a challenge from Hillary or somebody more moderate for the Democrat nomination in 2012. Remember when Teddy tried to do that to Carter? Might have worked except for Teddy's past. The irony of all this, is I would rather have Hillary as President right now - and I really mean that as I think she would be less destructive to business and stronger on terrorism. I doubt she would have closed Guantanamo or tried KSM in NYC.
