28 Police cars close Hwy 74 at Georgian Parkway

birdman's picture

Last night (Oct. 30) around 8:30 pm approximately 28 police cars from PTC, Fayette, and Coweta raced down 74 and closed the Hwy at Georgian Parkway. Anyone know what was going on? I have searched all news sites and cannot find any info.

It was a road block to check for sobriety, license, registration, and proof of insurance. I went through it around 8:45pm when I was coming home from Hartsfield. It sucked waiting on that after traveling this week and coming home.

I don't care if the cops want to go fishing for drunks but 8:30-9:00 is a little early. Drunk fishing shoud be a midnight sport.

Two fish dressed up in ghost costumes just rang my doorbell and said, "Trick or Treat".

One said, "Why can't the boy ghost have babies?"

The other answered, "Because he has a Hallo-weenie!"

Tough night out there all the way around.

The next kid that comes to my door gets the rest of the candy. It will be the mother-load

38 plus cop cars for a roadblock? Are you sure? My goodness...speaking of mother-load these guys must have raked in haul. I've seen 6 or cars at a roadblock. But...38 plus? Following the lit-up cars heading Westbound from Falcon field there were several that didn't have their lights on. Did you actually pass through the roadblock?

What did you give the wee little ones when they came knocking at your door? Smiling

I don't know about those others you are accusing, but I was with one of those 38 cop cars all night. Too tired to beg candy. We ticketed 2 for tail light out.
Tried to get them to go to Country Club or any Bar at closing time, but they said no---that they would be working all night and rest of the following day and hauling to jail in Fayetteville.

Bonkers was not answering the door as he was out trick or treating himself. He went dressed as the mythical hydra- each head a separate blogging entity- Bonkers, Dollaradayandfound,etc...

The Nekkid Golf Cart rider actually had a box of wine. My bet is was either Mrs. Bernie Mac or Mrs. Pina Colada with Saint Barbie riding shotgun. No reports filed yet as to whether or not wine was spilled on an officer's shoes or not.

it was the famous Fri. & Sat. nite special...the rolling DUI checkpoint that was announced by Chief Skip the other day.

Subtle...very subtle....

I didn't think they had that many.

Actually it was 1 Squad Car with 38 backups.....The first officer was on the scene to confiscate Mudcat's computer. The other 38 backups were needed to get her to shut the hell up.

But you sure gave us something to chuckle about on a dreary day. Mudcat must be picking up her witch's garb from the cleaners and geting the 100 mile check-up on her broom stick for tonight's trip 'cause we sure have not heard from her since her foot-in-mouth post.

I counted 39 when they left out for the evening in parade fashion, with their blue lights a flashing - northboand on Hwy 74 from the Police Station. It was an awesome sight, and even included some type of travel trailer, I'm assuming for processing any arrests they made.

Or should I say the count of the 11 year old in the car. It WAS an awesome sight. I've never seen anything like it before.

There was a trailer being pulled. Perhaps a load of drugs? (Just speculating) There was a mix of Fayette Deputies, PTC cops and GSP vehicles and possibly some others.

I got stopped there as well and ther was a ton of units there. They were not just PTC, it was county too. If you were sober, didn't smell like booze, and had you s**t together, it was a 2 minute delay tops (as mine was). I think its great for obvious reasons. I have no problem stopping for them and would like to see more if this.

but that was on the tail end of a travel day that ended with a two hour flight delay into Atlanta. I counted the slowdown, inspection, and wait for the others ahead of me at about 6 minutes. Not a big deal, but still sucked and another delay in my travel.
