TOGA! TOGA! TOGA! The mayor of Peachtree City and members of the city council were recently presented togas by three of the planners for the 2nd Annual Toga Trot 5K fundraiser race. The Toga Trot is the jointly produced by the Rotary Clubs of Peachtree City and the Atlanta Southern Crescent Alumnae Panhellenic Association (ASCAPA). The 5K race will start at 8:30am on Halloween morning at the Dolce Atlanta Peachtree Hotel & Resort, which is the race's title sponsor. There will be a one-mile walk/fun run immediately following the start of the 5K race. The Center of Integrative Manual Therapy (Center - IMT) is the presenting sponsor and they will have several of their clients participating in the race again this year. Last year, everyone was impressed and sincerely moved at the sight of Center IMT clients who'd been told they'd never walk again crossing the finish line (as shown in the other photo).

Proceeds from the Toga Trot are split between Rotary and ASCAPA, with Rotary's funds going towards their Polio Plus campiagn to totally eradicate polio from the world - it still exists in four countries (India, Pakistan, Nigeria and Afghanistan). The ASCAPA proceeds go for their scholarship program which awards cash scholarships to high school senior girls from the Southern Crescent area who are going on to a four-year college or university.

To register for the Toga Trot and help two worthy causes, go to www.togatrot5k.com or send an email to togatrot@gmail.com if you have questions or need more information. All entrants are encouarged to wear togas because it's a great way to start Halloween plus there will be awards for the best togas! Togas will also be for sale at the race. Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners, as well as the top three finishers in over a dozen age groups ranging from age 10 and under all the way up to age 70 and over!
