Sonnet to recession budgets

So difficult to cut a person drawing taxes
Even more difficult to lower their wages.
But in times of hunger out come the axes
Some are so so upset they will be in cages

Elected servants who must do the cuts
Fear the pressure at the next election
Their choice is to cut stuff, not butts
So that no change is made in selection.

The stuff to cut is public recreation
Never to touch those sacred vote getters
So as not to disturb the city nation
If butts go flyin oh how will fly letters

One-term service will solve the problem
No witch gets burned like the old Salem.
