Robert A. Starr, 84, Fayetteville, formerly of Tilton, Ga, died June 3, 2009. He was graduated from a technical college in Louisville, Ky. He had served in World War II, spending three years with the United States Army in China. He continued in the military with a total of 20 years retiring from the National Guard as a Lt. Colonel. He was employed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, retiring with 23 years of service. He was a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church and was one of the teachers of the Fellowship-Disciple Sunday School Class.

Services were at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Partridge officiating. Interment was at West Hill Cemetery, Dalton, Ga. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Abbie K. Starr, Fayetteville; sons, Garry A. and Donna Starr, College Park, and Hal M. and Sarah Ann Starr, Stockbridge; nine grandchildren; and sisters, Florence Michelangelo, Tommie Maynard, and Ruth Marks, all of Florida. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
