Come explore the magical world of The Amazing Castle! With imagination as their guide, children will be transported to a whimsical medieval community where they can become a blacksmith, jester, chef, gardener, tailor, carpenter, or even a prince or princess. Wake up the sleeping dragon and watch him rise from the castle tower.

Magical Medieval Fun at Every Turn

From the moment children enter The Amazing Castle, they are transported to a special place and time with new adventures around every corner.

“The Amazing Castle gives children a fanciful castle where they can discover that each person in a community fulfills a vital role,” said Karen M. Kelly, Director of Exhibits and Education. “Through play, children can experience first-hand the interconnectedness of people within a community.”

Each Child Has a Special Job to Do

Kids learn that every citizen in a community plays an important role. No matter which trade they choose, they depend on each other and work together to get things done. They can try out jobs like “the Jester” “the Carpenter” and “Synge the Blacksmith”

The Imaginators, the Museum’s troupe of professional actors, entertain with an original mini-musical, “Hawthor’s Dragon,” written by two Imaginators – DeWayne Morgan and Derek Ratliff. Erheart the Dragon may be big and green, but he’s certainly not mean. After scared villagers banish him from the Village of Hawthor, the kids jump into the storybook and give the story a happy ending. They teach the villagers that everyone plays an important role in the community. They help Erheart the Dragon become the town’s troubadour who entertains with his magnificent singing.

“The Amazing Castle exhibit gives children an opportunity to use their imagination and be creative while learning about the concept of community,” said Dr. Cynthia Kuhlman, Director of Educational Achievement at CF Foundation, and former Atlanta Public School principal at Centennial Place Elementary. “It is perfect for families and school field trips because it reinforces concepts learned in school, and it sets up children to become community helpers in the future.”
