Barry is a true cops cop who believed in getting the job done to protect the county the way it needed to be. The new regime is much more of a "bean counting" regime and less of the "cowboys" that Sheriff Johnson operated under. I think there will be significant changes to come, some for the better (automation etc) and some for the worse, but it is what it is.

As for Woodie spreading rumors etc, wouldnt shock me in the least. He cant even tell the truth, but he admitted to that when he told his heart wrenching story here on how he was hired/ punished etc ..WHATEVER. After all, he is the same guy who complained here about budjet short falls and his shoes having holes. What you dont know is he received numerous gifts ( ie monies) to buy him some new shoes. Is that the way a senior supervisor should act, nope. Lets just hope the SO continues to provide protection to the citizens Fayette County the way they deserve it.

Stay strong Barry the majority still has your back, even if were are being intimidated not to say anything.

I don't know depdawg but if what he says is true this should be looked in to. Bryan Woodie should not be receiving gifts from anyone based on his comments in the newspaper or where ever. County employees are not allowed to accept these type offerings. Sheriff Hannah is now obligated to have this looked into based on his close ties to Woodie.

Well, I suspect Sheriff Hannah (boy, it seems strange to type that!) has begun "cleaning house" in earnest, judging from the number of newly registered law enforcement types that have been on here the last week or so with their various axes to grind.

I agree that the new Sheriff will run a much tighter ship financially...he HAS to. Sheriff Johnson was a good man, but the department was a walking financial disaster under his leadership. A quick perusal of the Citizen archives shows a documented trail of "benign neglect" with regard to fiscal accountability under Johnson's regime. In this time of belt-tightening, the old "wink nudge" approach of Johnson's is no longer feasible.

I'm interested in hearing the definitive word on exactly where Barry Babb ended up. We've heard of terminations, demotions, "punishment details" and just about everything except assassination. Babb is one of those "glue" guys who holds the department together.

Just my 2 cents from a guy with a pocketful of change....

I've heard Thomas Mindar got mad at himself and threatened to beat himself up. Eye-wink

Gee whiz, I hope he didn't do something drastic like shaving his entire body...again. Shocked

It is a shame. We can't afford to lose any officer from the SO. It's bad enough we lost Sheriff Johnson.

You boys need to ALL get along.

We are already working short, we can't afford to work short in this county. We are being attacked daily from the worthless idiots from clayton and fulton crime counties.

We can't afford to have an SO with "scores" to settle. Big deal, you ran against each other in a Sheriff's race.....get over it. We can't afford anymore losses at the SO unless we all want to move to another county.!!!

he was demoted to an entry-level position in the jail. What a shame.

NSHB

Randall spent his last term assuring his employees that he would not support one against the other, then he did. The last year was a house divided. Hannah did a good job keeping it out of the press but nasty memos set the tone for what was ahead. Using a man he knew was not well liked by the majority (Woodie) he distributed well placed rumors, then assured everyone they were not true. Now he is proving they were. Not just Barry Babb but Tommy Nations and more rumors of others to come. Babb's placement in the jail is said to have something to do with Hannah's plans for Robert Glaze, the current head of the jail, Hannah's rubber stamp.

That Hannah was going to go after the throats of those that ran against him? None of this should come as a surprise.

I don't think Barry Babb, or anyone else for that matter, ran against Hannah. Hannah wasn't the incumbent, He was one of several who ran for a vacated seat. Just because he was some how able to make Johnson go back on his word and anoint Hannah didn't make the job his. Hannah, or probably more likely Woodie, is simply beating down potential candidates for the next campaign. I'm thinking after the way Hannah has allowed things to be done after his election, voters will take the next election much more serious. I'm especially concerned about the alleged break-in at the courthouse and how it is being handled (or mishandled). I'm also a little suprised the Citizen is not keeping us better informed about that situation if it really happened. If it didn't, tell us that. I stopped a deputy and asked him and he said the courthouse story is true.

Git, you of all people know announcing your bad intentions ahead of time doesn't make them right.

Babb didn't deserve that. What a disappointmentit is to see Hannah act in such Victor Hillish manner. In spite of his threats I had hoped that Wayne would have been a better man than that. But, the way our country is run these days nothing shocks or surprises me.

Babb is a good man and what I do believe is that he would never have treated his opposition in such a vindictive manner.

Oh well......
