Obama's aunt is part of the October surprise

Robert W. Morgan's picture

No big October surprise this tie - just a series of small ones:
Socialism
Joe the Plumber
$250k? $200? $250?
Obama will be tested
and my favorite - Obama's aunt living in a housing project in Boston.

Best part of this is the AP's role in this story http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D945TEE01&show_article=1
They are more concerned with how high in the Bush administration was who leaked the story (that be paragrapgh 2) than they are about the details of the crime committed by a close relative of a Presidential nominee (that be in paragraph 3, but well-scrubbed).

Wonder why the Boston Globe (owned by NY Times) couldn't find this woman who lived in their back yard illegally for 4 years and even contribute to Obama's campaign. Ithink if it were McCain's 12th cousin twice removed, it would be headlines - instead some British paper is first with the story.

Here's a great article about J.T. Plumber

"If you're looking for what's gone wrong with John McCain's bid for the White House, look no further than Joe the Plumber. Like his selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate, McCain's schoolgirl crush on Joe the Plumber has illustrated how badly the Republican candidate has misjudged the American electorate and mismanaged his campaign. In both cases, he enlisted uneducated rubes to campaign for him, hoping that these backwoods bumpkins could connect with and energize his red state supporters where he couldn't himself. And in both cases, his plan has backfired in horribly entertaining ways."

Jeff as the election has gotten closer you have dumped the facade. Now you are reduced to recommending "great articles" written by an uneducated rube whose life and skill set came from working as an NBC page and tour guide. Of course he did spend some time with his "finger on the button" - the bleep button of America's Got Talent. Wow!!! We must respect his words - he comes straight from Hollywood - so impressed. What else you got to insult us with?

Maybe he just meant Republican staffers instead of supporters, but either way I never thought anyone from that family would use those terms in describing another. Although he should certainly know a backwoods bumpkin when he sees one.

Maybe it was just in the article he was quoting. But still - an uneducated rube?

I was quoting the article, with which I agree. Did you see the link I posted below about JT Plumber. He's an uneducated rube that McCain has latched onto and who he now promises to take to Washington. Serious people are actually looking to him for policy advice. Palin? Same thing.

They both appeal to the part of the base screaming “socialism” while their own party nationalizes the economy. The same people who claimed Obama was a Muslim and that his birth certificate is faked. The ones who get their information from Rush, Sean, Laura, Drudge and Savage and don't have the background to evaluate issues.

After the election, they are going to rally behind Palin in a war of control for the Party against the George Will, Laurence Engleberger, Christopher Buckley, Peggy Noonan, Colin Powell wing; the part of the Party that not only has positions on issues but know the reason why they have those positions.

Looks to me like Palin and the plumber are going to win.

Good luck.

Hey, I'm both. The truth doesn't bother me, and fortunately I am not a centerpiece in anyone's presidential campaign.

Jeff,

If McCain pulls this off - and he is closing fast - that special Obama moment with Joe will join political history along with Dukakis riding in that tank. It will represent a singular event that unexpectedly changed history. "We need to spread the wealth around" will be just as famous a gaffe as "Rum, Romanism, and Rebellion" was a century ago.

cheers

Except Joe the plumber is an idiot.

Joe the Plumber on Israel

The fact that McCain uses him as an advisor is shocking.

I bet the Israel lobbyists love him.

The majority of Americans are not against "spreading the wealth around" because they are tired of seeing it becoming more and more concentrated at the top 1% of the population, nor are they afraid of the word "socialism", as long as some flows their way. In my opinion, if the McCain/Palin ticket is successful, it will be the result of vote counting fraud. The election process needs to be addressed in America, bringing it up to the minimum standards required for a fair process that we can all be proud of. Personally, I am moving on from this election, and if McCain wins, I will pray for his good health, the same as I have for George W Bush, and for the same reason: I do not want to see their vice presidents become president.

I think most Americans are against "spreading the wealth". I think most people understand that the top 1-5% of wage earners have tax attorneys to get them out of paying. They always find the loop holes. You and I however do not find a way out of paying. No matter how many creative write offs we come up with the richest of the rich come up with more.

The only way the rich will ever pay a tax equal to what the rest of us pay is when they can't get out of it. With the fair tax everytime they bought a new Mecedes or BMW they would have to pay a tax and no tax attorney could get them out of it.

I think the problem of welfare and supporting illegal immigrants is a very big issue with many people in this country. Entitlement programs were never meant to be a way of life.

Our current tax system punishes those that work and rewards those who don't. It doesn't work and it is a big issue.

Right on. I think all those airline pilots and buisness owners make far too much money. I want some of it flowing to me. BTW, what's your cut? Smiling

What are your suggestions for making the voting process more fair? One person, one vote, what is your minimum standard? Acorn registering to many Republicans?

A good place to start would be to come up to the standards that JeffC describes on this post: LINK. My own suggestion is not a law, it is a change in attitude away from partisan politics and toward independent thought on the part of voters (am I a dreamer or what?).

I have had aunts and uncles whom I never saw. Cousins too. Whatever they did, I certainly didn't have anything to do with it. The one aunt you're talking about here is reportedly a half-aunt, on Obama's father's side, and we know the relationship Obama had with his father was not exactly close. Imagine the half-aunt!

I understand the $200,000, $250,000 difference relates to whether an individual or joint income tax return is filed. If we could have the prosperity we had under Bill Clinton I wouldn't mind the tax we had under Bill Clinton. What counts is the increase in your net worth, and if you reflect on what's happened to home values and stock prices you're unlikely to feel you've been getting better off in the last few years. Low taxes mean nothing when your 401K or IRA statement shows a negative income.

When you invest your savings in the stock market don't you think it is prudent to shift it over to a money market fund when the indicators point to a rocky ride ahead? Guess that's what happens when fools listen to someone like Clark Howard advise them to not panic and ride this out. Gotta admit though... it's starting to look like a good time to gobble up some good buys with all that cash I've got sittin' on the sidelines.

But fear not folks.... I'm sure there is a plan in place to penalize me for using good judgement in harvesting my potential ill gotten gains.
