David's Mom

'69 was the year I was born. It was the year my teenage parents graduated highschool, had me, dad went off to war, and came home to work 2 - 3 jobs to support his family. Yeah, I guess I had some pretty good teachers. I just learned at an early age that surviving is hard but the rewards are great. My mom once rolled all the change she'd been saving for something special for herself but bought my prom dress instead.

You're right. We have all been taught a necessaary lesson the past two weeks. Even as responsible as I believe myself to be - I must admit that a small portion of our debt was spent at Barnes and Noble or Red Lobster, etc. I cut up my cards a year ago - now when I am able to go to Barnes and Noble I know that I only have say $20 to spend and have to choose rather than leave with an arm full of books and feel sick to my stomach when they ring up to $85.

A non'related subject: my 6 year old son loves to build cities with his blocks and, of cource, the fun part is knocking it down. Last week, after destroying yet another block city, I asked him what he planned to do next. I thought he would respond with 'ride my bike' or 'build another city'. Instead he said with a sigh "I'm going to call FEMA.". Life is always funny when you have kids!

That is a loving memory! I was having my second child the year you were born - my first was born in 1963. You express such wisdom - but you were fortunate to have a mother who taught you well. I'll be 70 years young in 2009. . . and still learning!!! Congratulations on getting control of your credit. Not an easy thing to do. Stay healthy. Life is a ball when you have your health, your family, and your friends. Believe me - 70 is the new 40! Smiling
