What's Queen Hillary to do now ?

Well the queen didn't make it to the nomination. Boo hoo. But , she is p-o'ed. During the campaign, she tried to get the pee-stream media to "out" John Edwards (aka Steroid Barbie)and his extra-curricular activities. She didn't push too hard because Steriod was running third. But, she didn't get the # 1 slot, so the V-P slot HAD to be hers. So she pushed and pushed the pee-streams to run with the Barbie sex story. Mission accomplished. He's out of the way. Steroid is squished under the bus. The V-P nod was hers. She could easily figure out how to take out Obama with her vast array of dirty tricks. But, wait, McCain was supposed to pick Romney, or Ridge, or Lieberman. Along comes a new, fresh, cute, high-spirited, red-neck chick from Alaska for God's sake. This is the October surprise the demmies didn't figure on. So, Hillary had to bring in her minions in the pee-stream media to trash Sarah and her family, her heritage, her town. Whatever you do , she said to the pee-streams, do not bring up her record. We cannot have her record compared to Hillary's (or the black dude's record). Since his is nothing but hate-filled black power rhetoric, she can handle him, no problem.) The demmies are so concerned that Hillary will become a footnote. And Palin will be the first woman Prez. This is so fun to watch.

You could not be more wrong! The Democratic Party, as controlled by the Obama people, never wanted Hillary as VP. She was never even vetted. Hillary was mathematically unable to win as far back as April and had to know it. Her only hope for 2012 was a McCain victory. BUT, McCain picking Palin threw a much bigger wrench into Hillary’s plans than into the Dem. Party plans. If McCain wins now who becomes the top woman politician in the country? Palin, of course! Now Hillary has to redouble her efforts to elect Obama to keep Palin out of office. It’s Hillary that is so concerned she will be the footnote that she now has to go out and rally for Obama.

And you comment about the Dem’s vis-à-vis Palin, “Whatever you do… do not bring up her record. We cannot have her record compared to Hillary's” Au contraire! Hillary is going to be screaming her record from the highest mountains (or at least from tall podiums) comparing it to Palin. It’s the R’s that are hiding Palin’s record. Did you hear a single word about Palin’s anti-abortion stand in the case of rape and incest at the convention? Did you hear anything at all by anybody, including Palin, about her teaching creationism stand? No. Because the fundamentalists already know it and they don’t want these politically fringe stances broadcast to the general public. Hillary is going to rip her to pieces.

As for “hate-filled” here are the hate America comments of the leader of Palin’s husband’s political party at the convention Palin attended:

Joe Vogler: "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government, and I won't be buried under their damn flag. I'll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home."
While denouncing Federal regulation over land, he said: "And then you get mad. And you say the hell with them. And you renounce allegiance (to the United States), and you pledge your efforts, your effects, your honor, your life to Alaska."

But I agree its fun to watch.

I was actually starting to think you were beginning to argue rationally and based upon some reasonable interpretation of facts, but these ridiculous comments are just silly spin. Perhaps you get a chuckle out of it, but you know better than that.

re: Vogler's comments made 20 years before Palin's husband crossed their threshold, I'd say that the two can not be compared in any honest debate. Wait, that might not have been your purpose. So if this is fair game, lets take your implicit superior intellect one step further.

Well the Republican Party was specifically started with ending slavery.

The Democratic party was specifically started by men that owned slaves, and many who had sex and children with them. No where did their charter talk about freeing the slaves.(Unlike the Republican Party's charter.) The leaders, including Thomas Jefferson, could be charged with rape since the female slaves could neither consent nor object to the sex.

Side's blacks only were counted as 2/3rds of a person under the Constitution.... Oh MY GOD, We are all racists!

So which is it Jeff?

So, can we agree that if Palin is tainted by the statements made by its founder some 20 years prior, then can why can't we go back to the origins of the Democratic and Republican party?

No don't embarrass yourself by trying to put a spin on this one. It will give you a real headache. . . . .

Of course, my conclusions are that the Democrats have most of the racists in this country today, and since it was started by racists, well, they haven't changed much.

Thanks again for you intellectual analysis.

I found references to Vogler making the comment about his "hatred for the American government" and its "damn flag" in 1991. That was two years before he was murdered in what his killer described as a plastic explosives deal gone bad. So he was an all-around charming fellow, evidently.

Todd Palin joined the AIP in 1995, after he and Sarah attended a convention. Vogler was a well-known figure in Alaska lore. It's almost inconceivable the Palins didn't know who the founder was or what his virulent views were. Todd Palin remained a member for seven years. Sarah courted the group's support as a politician.

But the real point is the double standard. If Michelle Obama or Ms. Biden had ever belonged to any political group whose founder proclaimed his contempt for American institutions, the rightwing flamethrowers would have a cow. But now we're told that mentioning this about the Palins is part of a media smear.

Her husband was/is a member of the party when Volger made these comments and she addressed their convention a couple of years ago. Her husband is still a member. After all stuff from you about Wright your position now is that this stuff about Palin is old news? What, you think Palin is not influenced by her husband?

"Republican Party was specifically started with ending slavery." My, how they have lost their way. So to bring us up to date here, is it your opinion that today's African Americans are just to stupid to accurately assess modern politics and that's why 92% of them are Democrats?

I would like to see these items that you have brought up regarding the "anti-abortion" and "creationism"...from valid sources of course. I do agree with you regarding your Hillary statement. She has to be absolutely fuming right now.

Have you been adopting more kittens for the November occassion? Eye-wink

I don't think this is any secret, this is why the fundamentalist like her so much. I also don't think the campaign will be touting these positions since they are so far out of the mainstream. She will certainly be asked about them if the campaign lets her do interviews.

Here are some news reports from a debate she had when running for Governor:

Abortion draws clear divide in state races

Creation science enters the race

For some unknown reason the darn kittens keep falling over dead. We're gathering a new supply.

Will someone tell me why and when this word entered the national vocabulary? Everyone is using it now.

Not long ago, I would have thought that being "vetted" referred either to acquiring a really cool car built by Chevy or having one's cat treated for worms.

I did explain this a day or so ago.

Race horses used to have to be "vetted" before a race to check for dope--by a vetranarian.

So, they vet these politicians to see about the same thing!

Very well stated. And you are correct. She will focus on taking out Palin. Also, you are correct on the "hate" thing. It's too bad we have people in both parties who have these anti-American opinions.

"Did you hear a single word about Palin’s anti-abortion stand in the case of rape and incest at the convention?

For those conservatives who believe a 12 year old, raped by her father, should be forced to have a baby, you finally have a voice in the Republican party.

Time to celebrate.

They have only one choice since they have zero ideas or plans. They must attack and attack Palin. So far they have hurt themselves more that they have hurt her, but they arn't giving up and it will get much worse. The good news is that she can take it and dish it back out. It will be stressful for her, but as each attack is highlighted by the lapdog TV networks and it proves to be nothing or something so over the top (like going after the 17-year old daughter) Palin will gain popularity and support - in the form of votes.

She is going to be the next VP and the Dems know that McCain is probably a one-termer, so in 2012 it will be a 48 year old Palin against a 65-year old Clinton or an even older Biden. Neither is a fair fight. Palin then becomes President.

"They must attack and attack Palin."

Does the truth hurt? Cry us a river, Robert.

"Ms. Palin needs to stop trotting out her husband as an exhibit until she explains her positions on workers’ issues...Are you with McCain – and against workers – on these issues? If so, you need to stop using your husband’s membership in the USW as a prop, because then his union card cannot possibly cover up your or John McCain’s worker-savaging positions." - USW President, Leo Gerard

I have a feeling that her husband is either going to have to burn his card or go against his wife. That is one firefight that I would not want to be part of. If momma ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy.

Then again, there is a difference between fighting for workers rights, and what unions have done to American businesses.

Its not the liberals who are going to go after the 17 year old daughter, its the people on the right:

Caller: Would you tend to think that a family in this position,
though, wouldn't you think that there would be a more watchful eye as
a parent to be watching over these kids so this doesn't happen to
them?

RUSH: I would certainly hope so, but it's long past time for this to
happen. The parents here are the culprits!

Bill Oreilly: “Now most teens are pinheads in some ways. But here the blame falls primarily on the parents of the girl, who obviously have little control over her.”

Sean Hannity: “AND she was shacking with the guy. What kind of parents let their 16 year old daughter live with her 19 year old boyfriend??????? And then they have the nerve to be surprised when the little hooker ends up pregnant?? Whatever.....”

Dr Laura Schlessinger: "I feel sorry for children who are robbed of their childhoods of innocence by parents who are negligent or voyeuristic. I feel sorry for the unborn baby."

For two reasons.

Many people sympathize with the underdog.

If they are attacking her she must very good, and a threat to them.

This will be the first time in my life that I have voted for a Republican president and it feels good! I don't think I would ever go back to the dems they offer no hope.

first off, she's the VP nominee. History says that people almost always could care less about VP's after the initial buzz wears off. Second, anyone getting blasted by the media and some of the Obamamaniacs is going to draw some sympathy, especially when the double-standard of "why aren't men expected to do this or that" gets raised. The fact that Palin fired back hard helped her case too.

Today's latest round of polling shows Palin with a higher favorable rating than either McCain or Obama. That doesn't surprise me since she's definitely "real" and not some wishy-washy politician for ages(McCain) or a guy who cares mostly about positioning himself politically by adopting whatever opinion is needed to appeal to whatever group he's trying to court this month. Plus, Obama has been a media celebrity for a while, and the American public loves to see those people go down hard. Like sky says, it's indeed better to be the underdog.
