Attention Republican Primary Voters

As we all know, tomorrow, July 15, is the long awaited Primary Election in Fayette County. You, the Republican voters of this county, will go and cast your vote for county and state offices. In order for you to go to the polls fully informed tomorrow, listed below is an email from Mrs. Judith Moore, formerly the head of the Fayette County Socialist Democrats. In this email, Comrade Moore warmly endorses the current Board of Commissioners and their "21st Century Democrat" ways. Thanks very much for pointing this out, Judith. It just confirms what this reader and many others have figured out long ago. This County Commission, with the exception of Peter Pfeifer, is composed of nothing but RINO's (Republican in Name Only).

Remember to vote tomorrow for the real conservative Republicans: Dunn, Fuhrman and Pfeifer.

Now for your reading pleasure, Judith's email:

Did you see Jack Smith's response to the dirt being hurled at our current Commissioners? It's long but worth the read: substantive as opposed to the distortions printed by our local fish wrappers.

I have attended many Commissioners' meetings and have been impressed by how hard this Board and especially Chairman Smith have worked on behalf of the citizens of this County. I only wish they would wake up to the fact that they make decisions more like 21st century Democrats than the current leaders of the party whose name they run under. These guys don't act like Free Market Friedmaniacs. I for one would welcome them all back to the Party of the People.

I am sure you will all be voting Democratic on Tuesday but tell your Republican friends this is not the year to vote anti-incumbent.

Peace, Judith

I am a conservative Republican. I can tell you I don't always vote straight Republican. To me that is like you need to use the brain God gave you.

I have voted Democrat when I felt the person was the right person that would do the best job. I will continue to do this.

It's a shame that people go in and vote straight Democrat or straight Republican. It happens all the time. I never have trouble voting because I choose to vote this way.

So, I ask use the brain God gave you and vote for different sides if that is what you think we need.

It isn't very often that I agree with Democrats but when they're right, they're right.

Well, Publius, as a Democrat I've got to agree with you.

The Fayette Republican party is more of a "big tent" than many people realize. The majority of Fayette Republicans may be conservative, but there is definitely a sizeable minority of centerists, and even some *gasp* librul Republicans!

After reading Jack Smith's letter last week, I'm convinced that Commissioner Jack Smith is the closest thing we have to a liberal on the Fayette County commission. He is by far the biggest "expansionist" when it comes to expading the public bureaucracy. Smith obviously wants to err on the side of caution when it comes to staffing and compensating positions. It's been years since I've seen a Republican espouse a "bigger government is better" platform, truthfully, I didn't expect to see that again in my lifetime.

Whether or not Smith actually believes what he's preaching to the masses....or just simply pandering for public employee votes....remains to be seen.
