I hope voters are smart enough to look at facts, conviction rates, and career records rather than gossip heard third party. It's so easy to case doubt on someone by tossing out "guess what I heard" comments. I have to say I have done my homework and reviewed the candidates side by side and hands down Rudjard Hayes will be the tougher district attorney, based on his incredible conviction rate. That might mean a little more work for the current staff who might want to keep things just the way they are, but it is their job to keep our community safe from criminals and predators, so I want the toughest prosector on the job. The only way to ensure that is by comparing their records and listening to what they are committed to and empassioned about. Disregard innuendos and make your decision based on these things. Only then can we be sure that our community is getting the most qualified candidate as our next district attorney.

Do people really vote based on which candidate can trash his or her opponent the most? Or do voters prefer to look at the substantiated facts and vote with some basis of intelligence?

I have nothing against either Scott Ballard or Rudjard Hayes for District Attorney. I have been to Mr. Ballard’s office and was treated nicely by his staff. I have never met him or received any personal campaign literature for him.

I did not know Mr. Hayes but received campaign literature with phone number, inviting me to contact him. I read Mr. Hayes literature and various news ads. Mr. Hayes presented comparisons with his opponent giving references to facts and case numbers. I appreciate a candidate who does not make wild accusations about his opponent but backs up important facts relating to the office he seeks.

I called Mr. Hayes and met with him personally. I liked his philosophy, friendly personality and experience and have decided to vote for him. This not to say Mr. Ballard is not a good D.A., or that I would be displeased if he were re-elected.

I certainly would not trash Mr. Ballard and am suspicious of those who trash either candidate. I definitely don’t want a D.A. whose supporters win the trashing contest. If I were a candidate, then I would ask my supporters to stop all this juvenile nonsense. And that goes for all candidates.

I want a D.A. who will listen to me if I come to his office with a serious matter and not give me the run around. Whoever wins, I want a PUBLIC DEFENDER.

I definitely agree with Fay79isus. Lousy effort to smear Hayes. Nonetheless, let's do a reality check on Ballard's work ethic. Gives character witness on behalf of a holy roller who is a convicted child molester...takes money from his family for his campaign...gives probation to internet child pornography predators..wow this guy's work ethics are certainly to be admired. As a parent I sure as heck do not feel secure with having him watch my children's back, and I am very sure many parents feel the same way.
