Greg Dunn

Today, I received a direct mailer from the Greg Dunn Campaign. Every issue was portrayed so very inaccurately by Mr. Dunn that I felt compelled to write here.

Claim #1: That Mr. Horgan (et al) broke the open meetings law.
Response: This is just beating a dead horse. Why is he not accusing Mr. Pfeifer of the same thing? This is all over Youtube and other places. If there had truly been a violation of the law, then there would have been punishment and/or sanctions against those who were involved. THIS IS A DEAD HORSE! LET'S GIVE THIS A REST!

Claim #2: Gave $3 mil pay raise (not including COLA and Merit)
Response: The salaries of county employees were readjusted to more closely reflect the surrounding communities and their employees. Without the salaries of our civil servants being the same as or more than the surrounding counties, then we run the risk of losing our best employees to other agencies. There was no "COLA" increase in the budget this year.

Claim #3: CHANGING to a defined benefit plan.
Response: I believe that it was only voted upon to study the Defined Benefit Plan. That is a far cry from changing. Mr. Dunn needs to be truthful, and not muddle the facts.

Claim #4: Hired an attorney who sued the county over the sign ordinance.
Response: Attorneys can not sue without a client who can bring a cause for injury. In this case it was a sign ordinance that was passed by Mr. Dunn and all of his cronies on the county commission. The law (ordinance) was flawed, and that is the reason that the Federal Court in Newnan ruled against Fayette County. Why can Mr. Dunn not take responsibility for his own wrong doing while he is accusing others of wrong doing?

It really boils down to this, Mr. Greg Dunn is wrong for this county. He is wrong for the County Commission.

VOTE HORGAN THIS PRIMARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw this mailing today, too. Not only is there no COLA increase this year, there are also no merit raises this year. And if what Frady told The Citizen is correct, there will be no COLA raises next year, either.

45% of the county employees got, at the most, a 1.88% raise. Less than the COLA raise probably would've been, and most of them haven't been eligible for merit raises for years.

Anyone want to tell us how many years the county employees didn't get a COLA raise while Dunn was in office? I know it was at least one or two.
