Trash under the rug in Tyrone?

Does Tyrone really intend to keep the taxpayers from knowing whether or not public funds were improperly taken by employees? If money was not improperly taken, then the citizens should be told that, so rumors won’t fly. If money was taken, then the guilty parties should be prosecuted. One rumor going around is that the Council doesn’t want to prosecute because the guilty parties might hire a lawyer; then the town would have to spend legal defense funds and cost the taxpayers more money. Not if they’re guilty.

That’s stinking thinking if true. The reasoning goes like this. We’re already lost some public funds, why lose more? Notwithstanding the fact that you send the message that it’s ok to steal because they won’t do anything. And not to mention the fact that taking public funds for personal use is against the law.

This attitude destroys the public trust in government and makes a mockery of our laws as well as the democratic process of electing representatives to protect our rights.

If public funds were illegally taken, then the perpetrators should be criminally indicted along with all those who try to cover it up. And they will be if we elect Rudjard Hayes Fayette District Attorney on July 15. Let’s send the right message to government officials in Fayette.

"...so rumors won’t fly"

Last time I checked on here, the rumor-mill was running full speed!
