It’s been one year since the Pevensie siblings, Peter, Edmond, Susan and Lucy, defeated the White Witch, Jadis, and saved the land of Narnia from her. They have been living in England for that year, and are starting to get used to things being normal.

In Narnia, however, 1,300 years have passed. The brave Prince Caspian has to literally run for his life in order to escape his evil uncle, Miraz. Caspian escapes and uses a magical horn to call forth the former Kings and Queens of old to help him save Narnia from Miraz.

The kids find themselves suddenly in Narnia where they had ruled. Everything seems fine until they discover that the peaceful Narnia they once knew has disappeared and has been replaced by a human-ruled dictatorship. They find and decide to help Caspian defeat Miraz with the help of some new Narnian creatures, including a brave-hearted, sword-carrying mouse who steals every scene he’s in.

This movie has a slightly confusing plot, but the sword fights are done very well. The action is what makes up for the lousy CGI (computer graphic imaging) effects. Compared to Speed Racer it seemed very amateurish. Take this into mind: my 10-year-old sister, Carol, said that she didn’t understand the plot at all even though I think she liked it. I haven’t read the book so this is all I had to go by.

At a running time of about 2 hours, 24 minutes, “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” is an action-packed film with comedy and, unfortunately, the last Narnia movie they’ll probably make. Rated PG for epic battle action and violence.
