The Fence

Anybody seen any pictures of the "fence" yet? A bunch is supposed to be done by election time.
I know they scrapped the "virtual fence" as unworkable, and I expect a few more designs to be scrapped as unworkable also. It ain't ever going to work, built or not.
All the past walls in history served no long term purpose and are all now gone.
Only thing to control the flow is there to be nothing here for them! Absolutely no jobs and no welfare. They would then stop coming.
All these "conservatives" who hire them to increase their company profits could stop it tomorrow!
I know it would cost 30% more to have our people do the same work, but it should pay 30% more!

This ought to be another uncreative way to waste U.S. taxpayer money. The fence is totally useless, people will keep coming in as far as the difference in wages between the U.S. and Mexico remains 10 to 1.
Capitalists and businessmen in the U.S. are not dumb either, they will keep hiring cheap labor because it represents more money in their pockets. It is economics, stupid. Trying to impose a law-enforcement solution to an economics (and social) problem is plainly dumb. But then again, what can we expect from the "brains" in Washington, just stupid decisions like getting us into a war we cannot win, $4 gas, a weakening dollar, exporting good jobs to China, while the Arabs purchase the most valuable U.S. real estate. We are the joke of the world!

There is more intelligent in the dynamics of private businesses and immigrants doing thir thing in a win-win situation.

They are CRIMINALS, LAW-BREAKERS and ILLEGALS! I have some very fine friends who are true immigrants and have taken the time, money, and effort to do it legally. It is an insult to them to call these illegal aliens "immigrants"!

They are your neighbors. They are, for the most part, hard-working, family-oriented, law-abinding, god-fearing people trying to take care of their families.
In your last post you pointed out that one should love your neighbor as yourself.
Try actually walking the walk, not just spouting the doctrine.

does not include teaching them that it is ok to ignore laws of my country if they are not convenient to them. I find many ways every day to fulfill the call to love my neighbors and I try to do so. I don't need to parade them out here just to convince you that I "walk the walk".

The fact that they are here ILLEGALLY trumps all else, and is a perfect example of how ridiculously open the US borders are and the failure of immigration policy and enforcement. They are a drain on social services and drive down wages, something that organized labor is trying to ignore as they see illegals as maybe one day boosting labor's declining membership rolls and coffers. Since consumers enjoy the benefits of the criminal enterprise of employers breaking the law to use labor that already broke the law to get here, the masses haven't totally revolted just yet, though there are signs that the masses have had enough of American politicians twiddling their thumbs.

If these people were so great, they'd be battling in Mexico to fix their country's myriad of problems and deep-rooted corruption instead of being willingly exploited and abused here.

in the civil code, not the criminal code. They are NOT CRIMINALS. They are in violation of a civil code.

I don't know when you last checked immigration laws, but now might be a good time to look again. Being in the US illegally is a federal crime and punishable with jail time, to go along with any civil penalties. Hello? THEY ARE CRIMINALS!

Federal Immigration Law

there is a reference to the criminal code. The act of entry appears to be a misdemeanor. Ah well, I guess I was wrong on that point. However, I simply don't believe it should be considered a crime to travel to a place to find a job in order to feed your children.

The CIA has admitted that they don't have enough "Arab agents" so they have to use Hispanics with some disguise to have them operate in the field in Arab countries. If they can do that, what is to stop some of the insane jihadists from doing the same and come on in? If they pick fruit for a few days and get paid $1/hr., everyone will think they are Mexicans and it's OK. That to me is a very real threat and a whole lot more likely than a group trying to skyjack airplanes again.

Mexico will never improve and the illegal immigration problem will never end if the US continues to enjoy exploiting the illegals to "keep prices down" and "do the work no one else will"(which means "do the work no one else will at a very low wage") Cutting-off the avenue of coming over to the US and being something akin to a prostitute or a serf discourages the good people from staying in Mexico and changing that dump of corruption into something better. It's in the US's best interest to have a Mexico that is somewhat stable where the people aren't starving to death and corruption and organized crime isn't as pervasive as kudzu. The current policies and enforcement are an abject failure and both the Dems and Repubs have abdicated any responsibility or leadership. they are also a slap in the face of all those who came to the US and went through the total pain of becoming a US citizen legally.

deportation when found. I'm curious, should we just open the border and let anyone in?

yep, after a background check. Who are we to judge another person's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?

What about those that did not complete a background check? What's their final disposition?

How about AMTRAK trains full of deportees and concentration camps in the Midwest, electrified fences and German Shepperds (or American Pitbulls)?

WE are the people of this United States of America, a nation built upon laws not upon another person's whims. We have no problem with another person's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, in their own country! Tell me, what other laws should we disregard if we have that background check?

U.S. Immigration law is completely flawed and the system is nearly a total failure. Current law is totally disconnected of the economic and social reality of the 21st Century and is is inconsistent with the highly globalized economy and free markets promoted by U.S. policy. Why do you want to penalize immigrants and let the other culprits (employers, politicians, labor unions, etc) out of the hook?
Most probably, immigrants built our homes, take care of our lawn and landscaping in our upscale subdivisions, nanny our little brats, wait on us in the local Mexican restaurant, clean up our hotel rooms, pick up the vegetables and fruits we get at Publix, etc, etc, etc. The masses are just fine with all that. It takes a bigot and a racist to stir hate sentiments to an otherwise majority of working and family-oriented people.

because you are here. Even Mexico deports illegals at the tune of 120,000 a year.
