Ordering Pizza complicated

There are now three extra charges on a pizza ordered for delivery.
Three medium pizzas base cost = $7.00 each, equal $21, plus a $1.50 delivery charge, plus a tip of $3.00, makes the pizzas cost $25.50, or $8.50 per medium pizza.
Also, pizzas used to weigh three pounds each for a large.
All three of the mediums would hardly weigh that much now!
Five topping are supposed to be included if you want that many, and they are, usually--at least four. However, you get more weight if you order cheese only with extra cheese, since the portions of the five items are so small that it is difficult to find them, one piece here, one there!
Pretty soon I expect a minimum sale charge of $30, and you get what they can afford that day for the price.
When the 30% fair tax is added they will compete with four star restaurants in price!

I happen to work at this place with $7 pizzas and I can't stand the fact that when we tell someone the price of a special, say this one is $21, when it is all said and done, that price elevates to $23.95. When I take an order, I make sure to tell the customer the final price at first. I feel bad telling someone that a product will be said price, then 1 minute later it goes up 2-3 dollars. And our prices are out of control, never, EVER buy a pizza there without a special, ask for one on the phone, be nice, and you will likely get a good deal. And 3 mediums weigh well over 3 lbs, closer to 8-12, not exactly sure, but definitely not just 3lbs...I have to carry these all day.

And just a couple tips to the stingy folks out there. A delivery charge is NOT A TIP, drivers don't get one cent of that. If you live far from the store, say Goza Rd or Lees Mill, or Westbridge (hopeless) $2 IS A BAD TIP. Round trip cost from those places cost a driver nearly a gallon in gas. If you don't want to tip, go pick up your pizza, delivery is a "luxury" service, not a right Smiling

I never weighed one, no.
Half of what you get in a pizza is it's weight. Other half overhead.
Are you people "new age?" Many Pizza chains used to make hay about the total weight of their Pizzas! (McDonalds "quarter pounder?")
Doesn't weight correlate with you as to what you are paying for?
Do you pay the same for one apple as six?
I have never seen the beat of you two!

A couple , no four, of you people are indeed sad to deal with on anything except coffee and HS bands.
By the way looks like Clinton and McCain in New Hampshire!
I have to change my Huckabee and Obama prediction of yesterday!
Don't you just know California, Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee, and the rest of the south are going to vote for Romney, Obama, and Huckabee?
Who do you conservatives here want, anyway? I still want Joe Biden in there somewhere.

With that my husband does have tons of hair. I would still love him even if he didn't.

What is it in politics you vote for hair??? Really now- what do you (yourself) look for in a President?Shocked

Congrats to Hutchette, my son did not even enter, did she take any classes before try outs- I don't know if he wants to later maybe, I was just wondering.

My son is in love- Ha. Just wait, your time will come. Then you will be so stressed you will be weighing alot of pizzas.

You will have the following added to your "take home"

6.2% your social security tax
6.2% of an employer's matching amount in social security taxes
2.9% your Medicare tax
2.9% employer's Medicare tax

PLUS your income taxes (22-33%)

Better to be taxed on what you spend than what you make

Oh, BTW those pesky 15% capital gains taxes that drain your investments will be gone and the fair tax is only 23%.

So you are saying the country can run on net 5% sales tax? 23% less your items.
What makes you think the employer will continue to dish out to you what he paid for SS and Medicare?
Good luck with that!
5% against 22-33% now, huh?
People are really bad at complicated math nowadays.

yardman5508's picture
Submitted by yardman5508 on Tue, 01/08/2008 - 5:38pm.

is that employers will actually do just that. I don't see "take home" pay increasing at all (or only slightly).

And while we are on the subject...another basic assumption exists that "market forces" will control prices (and wages?). What if all the heavy hitters in a particular industry decide to keep the price of a particular good or commodity unnaturally high in order to maximize their profits? Are "market forces" capable of countering that sort of corporate activity? Keep the faith.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

You really need to take a look at FairTax.org before you make any other comments. The system is really quite simple once you understand it. And when you understand it you will question why wouldn't anyone, other than lobbyist and IRS employees not get behind the FairTax.

It is 23% and it won't be added, it will be included in the cost of what you buy - read the book first.
Also, pizza and chinese takeout will be exempt after Congress finishes tweaking the original idea.

Submitted by sageadvice on Tue, 01/08/2008 - 12:02pm.

Oh, I see if it is included it wasn't added--what was done_subtracted, multiplied, divided, square root, sin-cosin, etc.?

I calculated all that for you under a blog (not a comment) under "calculating fair tax."
Go to "calculating fair tax" then scroll down to my explanation. (it is not as hard to do as figuring the fair tax amount!)
