I see now where the great plan: sales tax instead of property tax, isn't exactly that!
The plan is that if the sales tax doesn't bring in as much cash as is needed, your new property tax will have to make up the difference! Meaning, I think, that eventually we would simply be paying both.
That grand plan is similar to what the property tax now has as a safety feature to perpetuate unlimited spending on worthless jobs and expenditures. If home values go down or don't go up enough, then they simply raise the mil rate! Either that or they simply over-value property.
I still say that we could lay-off 50% of the desk employees (those who don't handle shovels) and take away their autos, telephones, and all other unnecessary expenses of employees, and still run a town or county.
However, instead, they do the above shenanigans!
