Sidney Wallace Turner

Sidney Wallace Turner, 92, Fayetteville, died Nov. 19, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Eloise Turner, and a grandchild, Jimmy Martin. He was a veteran of the United States Army in World War II. He was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church, and an umpire for 46 years. He loved to garden and work in his yard. Services were at the Friendship United Methodist Church, with Minister Bob Kerry, Minister Thurmond Slusser, and Minister Ruth Shaw officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Alice and Jim Martin, Senoia; grandchildren, Alice and Lee Burt, Dallas, Ga., Robert and Leslie Miller, Lithia Springs, and Amy and Shawn Baker, Jacksonville, N.C.; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray and Louise Turner, Columbia, S.C.; brothers-in-law, James and Sib Watkins, Fayetteville, and Jennings Watkins, Atlanta; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Bineck, Baltimore, Alice and Bill Denard, Canton, and Sue and Hal Miller, Ringold. Memorial donations may be given to American Cancer Society or the United Methodist Children's Home, Decatur, Ga. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, East Point, was in charge.

Mr Turner was indeed a very good friend. We visited him several times at his home in Fayetteville and he made it up north to visit at our home. His stories and companionship will be sorely missed.
