Beav, you forgot to mention Randy, Tiffany, Carlos, Maurice, Ashton, Edward, Vincent, and Jeremy. I don't think that they're Irish either. Puzzled

Nine people have been indicted in a series of slayings and robberies in metro Atlanta, including the shooting of an Iraq war veteran [who was shot in the back by an assault rifle in April 2006 while driving through downtown Atlanta -- his SUV was riddled with bullets] that may have been "target practice," Fulton County prosecutors said Friday.

Prosecutors say the people indicted were connected with a New Orleans-based street gang whose activities contributed to a spike in violent crime in Atlanta last year.

"It is the consensus of law enforcement agencies that this is the most violent gang anyone can ever remember in Atlanta," District Attorney Paul Howard said.

Eight of the indicted are believed to be members of the gang, known as International Robbing Crew. The ninth is the woman connected to the gang, the indictment says.

The gang originated in New Orleans but recruited locally.

"Only three of the guys are from New Orleans," she said. "Five of them are local."

The crimes occurred across the metro area over the past two years.

Other victims of murders committed by members of the group include Mamadou Barry, who was killed by being suffocated after having a plastic bag pulled over his head during a robbery in his Fulton County house. Other victims were shot.

I've been wondering what those former New Orleans occupants have been doing and how many are still on welfare. Sadly, now I know. Sad

"White Supremacist Gang Gains Clout"

(AP) The white supremacist gang Public Enemy No. 1 began two decades ago as a group of teenage punk-rock fans from upper-middle class bedroom communities in Southern California.

Now, the violent gang that deals in drugs, guns and identity theft is gaining clout across the West after forging an alliance with the notorious Aryan Brotherhood, authorities say.

Police say the gang has compiled a "hit list" targeting five officers and a gang prosecutor -- a sign of just how brazen Public Enemy has become.

Law enforcement officials trace the gang's rise to shifts in the power structure inside prisons. [There are strong "black" gangs, too.]

The gang traces its roots to the punk rock subculture in Long Beach in the 1980s. It soon shifted its base to nearby Orange County and in the 1990s began recruiting what police call "bored latchkey kids" -- white teenagers from upper-middle class neighborhoods. Sad

Crack cocaine is the drug most often associated with violent crime in GA. Hispanic criminal groups, primarily Mexican, supply powdered cocaine primarily to African American criminal groups, African American and Hispanic gangs and, to a lesser extent, Caucasian and Dominican criminal groups. Cocaine frequently is a factor in drug-related deaths in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Sad

I wonder how much gang activity we here in Fayette County.

Denise, get your guns!!!
