but he and his staff have covered the council meetings and written the news for a very long time and have a good idea both what is going on and most importantly, how people have been conducting themselves at those meetings. I think makes his pics carefully.

As for me, when I saw Smola announce, I winced. As much as I don't like him, it is hard to see anyone take a brutal beating. Everyone wondered why he would run, people still don't know. It is going to be embarrassing, but the pity is gone when we all see he it still up to his same on tricks till the end. I have to agree with the paper, how on God's green earth did he ever make it in the 1st time?

I care what the editor in chief says. I care because what Cal has said is a summarization, a cumulation of all of the issues and problems that have been discussed on this blog, in the newspapers, at the town council, in the lawsuits,... and somewhere he connected with these complaints and he did some investigations/studies in order to come to the conclusion that Smola is bad for Tyrone and Rehwaldt, Shenkle, and Young are the best men for the job,...this means that he believed at least some of us. The majority of the stories told on this blog about Amos and the Tyrone Government are TRUE. We have been denied belief by our own the current mayor, Smola and Latouneau, Barry Amos the town manager, Valerie, the assistant town manager/zoning adminitrator, and Brad Sears, the town's attorney. The denial of belief has been in the form of ignoring us, blaming us, firing us, doing things adverse to our problems and concerns. This is 8 years of this and well after 8 years it is nice to be recognized and supported by the editor in chief, a non-involved, objective, or at least as objective as he can be, many people respect him very much, he is a person who spends his whole job investigating and reporting news, and to have Cal say it and coming out and stating his support for the candidates that many of us have been supporting - Rehwaldt, Shenkle, and Young. He had done the research and decided with enough conviction of belief to write about it......... We are for these candidates, too It means he believes us......Rehwaldt for Mayor, Young for council post 1, and Shenkle for council post 2.

Still, DON'T CARE! Go whine and cry elsewhere. Maybe you should seek therapy for all these things TYRONE has done to you.

Ugh, I am so afraid that Eric "Cornball" Dial is going to get elected. If I get another lame, cheesy flyer from him in the mail, I think I will vomit!!! Dial has an angelic face and he does coach baseball, but is he a wolf in sheeps clothing? Being this down and dirty in the middle of something this nasty doesn't sound like the fair haired boy he looks like. This man seems to be hard core politics. Another thing that doesn't match, she is in lock step with the Mayor who broke the tie for Wielands latest subdivision. The one they used a zoning code of duplexes to build. And her husband is in lot step with Mr Smola who also voted for the latest Wieland subdivision. Kind of makes you wonder how short is the memory of the people voting for him are.

ATLANTA - Georgians wanting to voice their opinion about the state Supreme Court get their chance Nov. 7 in a rare contested nonpartisan election with a viable challenger.

Justice Carol Hunstein faces a challenge from Mike Wiggins, a Republican lawyer who is trying to paint the veteran jurist as a liberal activist with a bias toward the plaintiff's bar.

Hunstein characterizes her election as a defense against money tainting the court.

"It's important for me to win personally and professionally, but it's really important for the state of Georgia for me to win," she said. "I am determined to do my best to protect the citizens of the state of Georgia, keep their judiciary independent."

Hunstein's challenge is her first since becoming a Superior Court judge in DeKalb County in 1984 and since being appointed to the Supreme Court by then-Gov. Zell Miller in 1992.

Wiggins hasn't been a judge. He's most recently been a political appointee, first in the Bush Justice Department, starting in 2001, and finally in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as principal deputy general counsel. Before that he was an accountant and then private attorney with one of the state's largest, silk-stocking firms, Kilpatrick Stockton in Atlanta.

Wiggins claims Hunstein has interpreted cases to suit her own philosophy, siding too often with those suing businesses and not sticking with the law the way the elected legislators intended it.

Besides his own modest campaign fund, he's also backed by a group called the Safety and Prosperity Coalition that's bankrolled by insurance companies, insurance agents, doctors and hospitals worried the court will erase the victory they won in the legislature getting tort reform passed to limit the impact of lawsuits against companies.

"Of the four, we believe that she is the most liberal activist judge," said lobbyist Eric Dial who heads the coalition.

Hunstein counters that those tarring her as an activist judge are merely sore losers, especially when a majority of the court also rules her way. She maintains that she considers each case fairly and often decides on an outcome that goes against her personal preferences.

And she thinks Wiggins is wrong to declare a bias.

"He's picked his label. He's trying to stick one on my forehead, and it's just not sticking," she said. Wuld be in line to become chief justice, a post that doesn't have the authority to influence the outcome of opinions by assigning cases to favorite colleagues the way the chief of the federal high court does. Yet, she could still provide leadership in lobbying the legislature on behalf of the whole judiciary and initiating pet projects like those seeking to expand court access she has championed in the past.

Yeah- I'm glad you brought that up because the investigation on Dial is still underway. Checked it out the other day. The attorney who filed the complaint against Dial and his Safety and Prosperity Coalition said that they had a calendar date for it but that it has been put off. Now I am not going to vote for someone who is still under investigation. That stunt Smola pulled yesterday reeked of Darrow and Dial.
