Explaining the Pavilion in Fayetteville

Ok, it is time somebody explained where such thing as this come from, and why they happen.
Is there anyone out there who thinks that when the studies were made and the votes were cast to allow the Pavilion to be built where it is located, that any set of numbers said that Fayetteville and South Fayette County could support such a place alone?
Of course not---they knew then that much of the business would come from Clayton and Fulton Counties.
So, why would a developer care where the business came from? There is no business reason. Why would a Town Council or Mayor say anything against it? They don't! Why? Obvious! More tax money intro the Town till. Why do they need it? To perpetuate themselves, and to bring in more money for schools, etc.
Well, sometimes the schoolchildren come with the northern shoppers and stay and live here, don't they?
Same in PTC with all the Government housing.
Nobody is saying here that the developers don't have a right to develop and that northerners can't live where they want to do so.
But for heavens sake when you vote it in, admit why you are doing it. If we then vote you out, another guy or gal will take your place!

As I stated in another thread. I took a defensive driving course about a year ago. The Fayette Co Deputy that taught the class called the Pavilion the worst thing to ever happen to Fayette Co. Law enforcement knew what was going to happen when this thing was built.

I moved to Fayette 24 years ago for the peace and low crime rate. But all you ever heard from the people that lived here was how inconvenient it was to have to drive to Shannon or Southlake to shop. They cried, "We needed our own shopping place". Like the county line would magically stop the low life's that now invade our county. The argument that they used was why would those people come here ? They have their own shopping. Lets build this ! So while the politicians may shoulder some blame, a lot of it goes to the people that thought that they could have their cake and eat it too.
