Thoughts on D.J. Shockley

Kevin Wandra's picture

Well, I'm sure there are a lot of Falcons and Georgia fans who are saddened by the news that Falcons quarterback D.J. Shockley is done for the year after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament and injuring the medial collateral ligament in his left knee Friday against the Buffalo Bills in a preseason game.

How do you feel about the situation? Does anybody think Shockley's pro career is over? Does anybody feel he never would have been more than a career backup anyway?

Maybe he'll come back, but I doubt it and that is just terrible. The guy showed a lot of heart at UGA and had the potential to be a good NFL player.

There's very little hope that he can return and be as productive. It's one thing if you are a first string quarterback and you know there is a place for you after you rehab, but there are fewer places on a roster for a third string quarterback coming back from this type of injury.

Ok to be concerned for the individual who is hurt but there must be 10,000 replacements out there ready and willing to take all of their places. Many, just as good, but haven't been given the hype yet!

Personally, I feel bad for D.J. I hope he will be able to one day return to football, but you never know with an injury as severe as that. Isn't it incredible the injuries sustained thus far in the Pre-Season, though. The Ravens-Giants game last night was terrible. They were dropping like flies! What's going on?
