Russell Charles Zinkel Sr., 77, Union City, formerly of Homestead, Fla., died July 23, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Irene Tansor Zinkel, and a brother, Ronald Zinkel Sr. He was born in Chicago and raised in Miami, Fla. He attended the University of Florida where he obtained his Architectural degree and practiced in Miami, Homestead, the Florida Keys and Atlanta. He designed many prominent businesses, research centers, churches and residential homes. After retirement in the Atlanta area, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of designing and building churches for beginning congregations. A private service was held. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Tucker Zinkel; a son, Christopher and Karen Zinkel, Fayetteville; daughters, Pamela Zinkel and Wayne Caves, Stockbridge, and Deborah Zinkel and Ed Davis, Peachtree City; and grandchildren, Elisabeth Caves and Stanley Beaver, Waynesboro, Pa., Lauren Cole and Ryan Cole, both of Peachtree City, and Scott Zinkel and Kimberly Zinkel, both of Fayetteville. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.
