J.C. Hudgens, 87, Fayetteville, died July 17, 2007. He was born Feb. 19, 1920 in Fulton County. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Alvin London. He was a longtime member of the Flat Creek Baptist Church and the JOY Sunday School Class. In 1933 and 1934 he won the Marble Championship and had an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution published about him. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Cross officiating. Interment was at Sharon Memorial Gardens, Tyrone. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Bertha Hudgens, Fayetteville; daughters, Gloria and Gene Lynn, Tyrone, Janice and Frank Barrett, Byron, and Kathleen London, Newnan; brothers, John Hudgens, and Leonard and Opal Hudgens, all of Stockbridge; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Rd., Union City, GA 30291, or the Flat Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 161 Flat Creek Trail, Fayetteville, GA 30214. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.
