Bush on Immigration

DragNet's picture

I just read Bush speech on immigration delivered at the Federal Law Enforcement Center in coastal Georgia. SHAME!

How did we get deceived by this president? It seems that now, lawbreakers will be rewarded with amnesty while legal immmigrants efforts to bring their relatives LEGALLY into the U.S. will be deterred of doing so...can anybody explain this madness? Is this really a Republican president? This smells of treason. I am myself (or was) an immigrant many springs ago, had to learn English, gave away my nobility titles from Transilvania, an cheerfully became a U.S. citizen thinking that had meaning. Now, with this amnesty, U.S. citizenship seems to have become cheap. maybe Bush fears not having enough recruits for his gone south war in Iraq and needs the Mexicans to ramp up the battallions, but it is truly shameful that this "comprehensive immigration bill" will reward lawbreakers while punishing lawful immigrants. Can somebody explain this madness? Why are our 2 Republican Senators from Georgia supporting this nonsense?

Our two senators are for the immigration bill because they are in the right hand wallet pocket of business interests in GA who want cheap labor who can not complain.
As to you being an immigrant, I also am one--my folks came over on the Mayflower. Indians gave us a hard time, but not nearly as hard a time as that stupid weather, mosquitoes, snakes, and lack of air conditioning and food on those shores up there.
Or so I was told.
Now, the indians tried to get us to learn at least Choctaw so we could converse and go to their schools, but we stuck with a revised English and sent them to Oklahoma.
Also, they wanted us to raise the maize for very low wages--one-fourth of the maize---the landowner you know gets three-fourths.
We wouldn't do it.
They even tried to get us to skin the buffalo that they shot down with hundreds of arrows, but we wouldn't do it. We just wanted some of the meat for free.
We nearly all died from eating dried deer and buffalo and no vegetables (remember the maize controversy?) Oranges and onions were also hard to come by. The indians ate bark, We wouldn't.
Have you ever lived in a tent with a hot fire in it, in the wintertime, that is covered by green skins that are drying out? Whew! We wouldn't either, but most of us near froze.
We tried puttin about 50 pilgrims into one shed about 20 by 20 tp produce enough warmth to survive, but all the women refused and they all froze outside--them that didn't join the indians in the tents.
These Mexicans and South Americans don't know how good they got it.
You don't see any middle-easterners immigrants here suffering, do you? They are smart.

part of mine in the 1600s and the rest in 1739...every male was in every war....what did mine get? well for the ones in the Rev they paid taxes and farmed land in North Georgia for 15 years only to find the Georgia gov was a bunch of crooks and sold them Cherokee land, they moved on..with nothing...the 1600 bunch came as endentured servents, who only lasted 4 years before he died, seems that contrary to what the reporation people will tell you...these guys were treated much worse than a common slave, you see you were endentured for 4-8 years then they had to let you go and give them a new set of cloths...3 out of 4 died ...that is a fact..a big point in outlawing slavery in the US, but white slaves are not talked about, black slaves cost money and were much better treated...what did my 1600 bunch get? nothing but they were too proud to poor mouth...so what have mine got out of this...a right to be free...and support the 'poor pid-a-full me' bunch, and watch our kids get in line ..behind...the pity party of once slaves that want to keep fighting the civil war...for scholarships..etc..what did we really get? not much...not at all...just the right to make it good for everyone else who is on the dole....

I know exactly what you mean. When I came to America I had to quit my blood sucking vice, though I found it great with American ladies wanting to have a sucking mark in their throats. I've never seen an American Indian in my life, so I don't know how they look like. On maize, I like corn on the cobb with butter and mayonnaise. As for Middle Easterners, I don't trust them. They are building a mosque right here in Fayette County and it seems to me they want to convert us to Islam (Being legally allowed to have 4 wives is the only thing that attracts my attention). One thing I'd say for the Mexicans: they do a nice job on my 3+acre backyard. Can't complain, but 20 million seems like a lot of lawn mower guys.
