The Whitewater Middle School’s track teams (boys and girls) were both crowned the 2007 Fayette County Champions last week at the County Track Championship. For the boys team this is their second championship in a row and for the girls team this is their first ever county championship.

The boys Wildcats team ended their regular season undefeated outscoring their county opponents by an average of 56 points. The only team that the Wildcats were beaten by was Douglasville’s Chapel Hill team at the 15-team field of the PTC Invitational Meet. Overall, the Wildcats put together an impressive 21 – 1 record.

The Lady Wildcats ended their regular season undefeated as well, outscoring their county opponents by an average of 43 points.

Several county records fell to the Wildcats at the Championship meet. The girls set two new county records while the boys reset three. New record holders for the Wildcats are: Iyuna Dugger (100 & 200), Josh Clemons (100 & 4x100), Brandon Collins (200 & 4x100), Jordan Scales (4x100), and De’von Davis (4x100).

The 2007 Wildcats also rewrote the school’s record books. New school records were set by Brandon Collins (200, 4x100, & 4x400), Josh Clemons (100, 4x100, & 4x400), Jordan Scales (4x100 & 4x400), Derek Newsome (300 Hurdles), De’von Davis (Long Jump & 4x100), Lauren Jennings (Triple Jump, 4x100, & 4x400), Stacey Mangan (800), and Iyuna Dugger (Long Jump, 100, 200, 4x100, & 4x400), Charity Johnson (4x100 & 4x400), Leah Mihuc (4x400), Hudson “Buddy” Parker (4x400), and Jordan Copeland (4x100).
Coach Denise Roth and Coach Calvin Hudson are very proud of all of their 100 plus athletes who competed for the Wildcats this season.

“They deserve all of the recognition they are receiving for their undefeated championship season. They worked very hard and it paid off. I couldn’t be happier for our athletes,” commented Coach Roth.
