New sports added to the 2007 Georgia Games Championships

Come join in our new sporting events for the Georgia Games Championships July 13-22, 2007. Along with many of last years’ sports, this year the championships will also include: BMX Cycling, Billiards, Indoor Volleyball, Flag Football, Youth Softball, Youth Baseball, and Ultimate Frisbee.

The Georgia State Games was created in 1989 as a requirement to receive the 1996 Atlanta Olympic bid. The Georgia State Games has been providing a first class Olympic Style Sporting Events for 17 years. This year the Championships will be held at various venues throughout the metro Atlanta area.

In past year’s 139 of Georgia 159 counties have been represented in Georgia State Games Programs. All of Georgia’s residents are eligible to register and compete in this is open invitation, grass roots style, State Sports Festival. Historical records have recorded; the youngest participant as 1 and the oldest has been 97. Competitors have ranged from weekend warriors to top Olympians, from elementary school kids to corporate executives.
