Lady Panthers move on to state quarterfinals in soccer

After defeating fifth ranked Greenbrier in the opening round of the AAAA state playoffs, the Starr’s Mill Lady Panthers had a brief moment to breathe a sigh of relief before moving on to the second round match with Thomas County Central.

The game was a lot easier for Starr’s Mill as they won 10-0. Carlie Banks scored three goals and recorded two assists and Katrina Frost also scored three goals and had one assist.

Meghan Kory knocked in two goals, Laura McCalla had one goal and four assists, Shannon Hall added one goal, Lauren Swany had two assists and Brittany Schwanitz had one assist in the win.
Starr’s Mill will take on the winner of Chapel Hill and North Springs on the road this Friday.

Last night, the McIntosh Lady Chiefs (12-7) played at Dutchtown and the winner will face the winner of the St. Pius and Salem game on Friday, May 4.

Whitewater’s girls (11-6-1) took on Lee County on the road last night. The winner will meet the winner of the Sequoyah and Lakeside-DeKalb game next Friday.

McIntosh’s boys (17-0-2) will host Baldwin County tonight and the winner of that match will take on the winner of St. Pius and Heritage on Saturday.

Starr’s Mill (12-3-3) will take on Upson Lee on the road tonight. The winner will face the winner of Habersham Central and Rome on Saturday.

Whitewater’s boys (13-5-1) will play at Thomas County Central tonight and the winner will face the winner of the Sequoyah and Marist match on Saturday.
