Values

If one dog gets shot, or one cat gets killed by someone, all hell breaks loose by many individuals.
Yet, I hardly ever see any comments or anger about the mistreatment of mental patients in Georgia's mental hospitals, nor for the poor children mistreated by the state DCFACS idiots.
I'm not ingerested in hearing from those who say animals are not able to help themselves, or, have no relatives to take care of them, or a thousand other sandy based reasons.
The factis we don't want to tackle a difficult problem, or pay for it.

What a strange subject

Saw where "Sonny wants to leave office by building his "good" legacy over his last year (with no money).

He might want to consider dollar above!
Might want to pass a bond for water sources!
Might want to have more state money for the unemployed--not so much from DC!
Might want to start to take-over Atlanta as was done in Miami once.
Stamp out problems with Clayton Counties schools.

He is rich now from land sales so he needn't work any more.

The Bush Republicans talk about values but if you examine their actions closely, it isn't hard to see that they value nothing and no one beyond themselves. Let's take DFCS for an example. They talk about people who can't figure out birth control as a reason not to fund DFCS adequately. (Note that child abuse and neglect are crimes committed by -- and experienced by children of -- the rich and poor alike.) But no one wants to be the person who does away with services to poor, abused and neglected children. That's the equivalent of telling widows and orphans to go ahead and die "and decrease the surplus population."

So, instead, the Bush (and Sonny "I-used-my-elected-office-to-avoid-paying-the-same-taxes-you'd-have-to-pay" Purdue) Republicans fiscally starve the agency. They leave the structure in place so that the taxpaying public can be outraged at the "failure" of those employed to work within the structure. But they gut the budget so that the agency cannot possibly accomplish its mission. AND it's also a convenient way to say "Government is incompetent" and create privatized foster care. (That's the big contribution to childcare Sonny's budget has proposed, with his wife at the helm.)

They, basically, did the same thing with FEMA . . . left the structure in place, gutted the agency and, when it "failed" in Hurricane Katrina, paid $950 per contractor per day for Black Water contractors to respond. (A job the National Guard would have done but they were otherwise occupied. But we digress . . . .)

Just remember, when they say "values," they mean the economic type.

Have a Happy Easter,

SWMBO

It was just another day to work for me.

Yes many of us bloggers get upset when innocent animals are tortured. Some of us even boycot J.C. Penny because they still sell fur that was harvasted from dogs skinned alive in china. (that is per the today show and the undercover investigative reporter who filmed it) They advertise this fur as fake fur, but it came from live animals. Many other companies, like Nordstrom also had these products until the dateline reporter confronted them and showed them the evidence. Every company in America that was selling these "fake" fur trimed jackets dropped them immediately when faced with the evidence. Every company except J.C. Penny.

Abuse of kids and abuse of mental patients is a shame. It's a shame that we have sooooooo many people in this country that can't figure out birthcontrol. They squat out kids, and change partners more than some people change the filter for their furnace. All of this with absolutely no care or concern as to how they can afford them or take care of them. It is a shame that kids are born with defects. It's an even bigger shame that people do not take advantage of the genetic testing available to determine what problems they will face early on.

Not every parent is equiped to deal with a mentally hanidcapped kid. So where do they end up????? In an institution! When your doctor tells you about the birth defects that are already evident......the choice, a hard choice is up to you.

Yes, it is a "shame" that someone shot a dog and killed a cat, a "shame."
The people who birth mentally retarded people should have "shame,"and they should have taken their welfare check and got a laboratory check for genetic defects before they had sex, a "shame."
Poor people should have taken out their billfold or pocketbook and counted their money and estimated the costs of raising a child before they had one, "shame" on them, shame, shame.
When the doctor tells you that you are too dumb to have children, "shame, shame," on you if you go on and have any, "shame."
Since all children born are "gifts" from God, "shame on those who through their own fault had faulty children for God. Shame, shame.
Shouldn't we, until the problem is solved, go ahead and take care of our problems?

When people frame solutions to DFACS problems in terms of people "squatting out babies" I think sarcasm becomes appropriate. Dollar raises a good question: Are children gifts from God or not? So how should we treat their healthcare and educational needs?
