HDTV reception in PTC?

How well can broadcast HDTV be received in Peachtree City? Comcast is asking more than I care to pay for HDTV, I'm considering purchasing an HDTV antenna.

If it does, the local networks are "in the clear" HD over the basic cable. You would only need the most basic cable subscription to recieve them. Most newer HDTV's have a built in NTSC (analog tuner) and ATSC (HiDef tuner) these two are over the air tuners, and a QAM tuner, which will pick up what the cable company sends out.

An HD box is only necessary to get Espn/Disc etc. Their selection has recently grown, I recieve around 18 or so HD channels. These include around 6 or so locals that you could get for no extra charge.

Hey Steve.
I live on the north side of PTC (near Kedron) and have an HDTV antenna in the attic. The reception is great (except during bad storms- then sometimes it's choppy). But you will only receive over the air channels through it- whereas Comcrap offers quite a few...

I have a digital projector (no tuner) and I'm looking at the new DVD recorders coming out that support HD reception. McDonoughDawg - sounds like QAM support is a must as it'll keep me from having to deal with an antenna.
