Bloggers, Repent!
O. K. All you bloggers and Free Speech writers. Enough is enough! Tyrone is becoming the laughing stock of Fayette County all because of it's Town Manager, his cohort, some members of the Tyrone Council and the Mayor. I am asking that you cease and desist- immediately! These people work hard to make the best of a bad situation. With all these pesky citizens bothering them and asking that they do things the citizens would like, what is a good person to do? Imagine, a park that no one wanted and that was supposed to be no cost (material supplied by developer friends) and labor (a lot of it) supplied by the Town at the expense of Shamrock Park, the golf cart paths, etc. (no cost mind you?) lights that blind you, dangerous parking that is on, we assume on Senoia Road's right of way, 40 year old oaks that, iaw ordinance, should be replaced, signs that do not meet code, and a gazebo that will be used by no one but errant skateboarders.
And again, those citizens that expect that development of the 54 acres recently purchased would be developed iaw with existing ordinances. Ridiculous! Developers come in and ask for variances, multiuse development, senior housing (right! hide and watch), without sewage, green space set asides, traffic studies, environmental studies, required services, etc. and they expect our Town management and Council to roll over and play dead. Again, what is a poor manager to do? Do you listen to the citizens, their comprehensive plans, and their repeated plea to leave Tyrone with a small town atmosphere, limited development and single family housing on one acre, septic tank serviced lots or do you keep the citizens in the dark and hope they go away. It’s a real dilemma.
And then, Town management tries to build a new road for the citizens, supposedly with developer money and nobody appreciates the fact that there are no shoulders on this road, storm water control is less than satisfactory, and the right turn onto Tyrone/Palmetto Road is taking your life into your own hands due to "engineering"? Again, the citizens just expect too much. Other items such as emergency exits out of Shamrock Industrial Park, air pollution, Millbrook's sewer odor problems, etc. are problems that should not be constantly brought before Council. This is unfair! These people, elected and appointed, work hard to do the best they can for their citizens. So, again, I ask, please leave these people alone! They are doing the best they can!
Oh, yeah! And the library bids came in today. Get prepared to have your taxes increased to pay for it and its upkeep for a long time to come.
