The Holy Trinity Music Ministry will present Music for Lent in the cantata, “The Rose of Calvary,” on Wednesday, March 14, at 8 p.m., following the evening Mass. The music, written by Joseph Martin, is a companion to his Winter Rose cantata.

Presented by the Holy Trinity Parish Choir under the direction of Claire Stroud, The Rose of Calvary tells in reading and song of the garden of life and of the shadows man brought to this garden. The portrayal of darkness and shadow is a new setting offered as Tenebrae which means darkness.

“For the Tenebrae service this year, ‘ The Rose of Calvary’ takes us from our shadows and darkness into God’s promise, born in his son Jesus,” a spokesperson said. “This sacred flower of hope will be our redemption. The remembrance of Christ’s life and ministry in song echoes our need for hope and redemption. Our Lord Jesus Christ is The Rose of Calvary. This music of God’s love and grace through Christ will be a very special program of Lenten worship.”

Holy Trinity is on the corner of Walt Banks Rd. and Ga. Hwy. 54 in Peachtree City.
