When I suggested Thomas Mindar for sheriff it was because OF his experience. I feel he would do the right thing - you don't have to swing a big stick and showboat to be effective. It has to do with LEADERSHIP and the focus on getting the job done the right way. Mr. Mindar, above all, knows the law and has the drive to make it work for all of us. He's a Gulf War veteran - he was voted at the police academy as "Most Dedicated to the Badge" by his teachers. He has worked in Fayette County for 11 years - he can communicate with the youth - I have seen this personally. How old do you have to be to be a sheriff? Mr. Mindar is almost 40 years old. I do not view that as being "too young." We need a sheriff that has the stamina to be out there with the men! We will all see in the coming months just what he is made of. I intend to follow this race closely and hope all Fayette County citizens do as well. Thank you again for allowing me to post my comments.

I guess if you like officers strutting around in black BDU's and M-4's strapped on their backs, then yeah I would say he's your man. Needs are few more years of chasing bad guys to get it out of his systems to realize there is more than just one way to handle situations. Go Dawg Go!!!!

I have known Tom since he went to work for the Fayetteville Police Dept., I have to say we need a sheriff like Tom is his youth an issue? NO, we have a sheriff now that was young also when he was elected sheriff and although some people may not like Randall he is great sheriff. As someone that grew up in Fayetteville and watched this quiet little town be turned upside down by thugs, drug dealers, and thieves. So I say elect Tom and let him drag all those people to the county line kicking and screaming then maybe this will be the town I grew up in again. At this point the way Fayette County's crime problem is growing it would not bother me at all to even elect a sheriff that would clean house like Buford Pusser. So lets not stop a man from being sheriff that that cares about this county and wants to clean it up. GO TOM YOU HAVE MY VOTE.

That's exactly what we need. Buford Pusser was one of the most corrupt Sheriff's there was. The reason he was busting all the bars and moonshiners was because they were not "cutting" him in on their action. Maybe you mean the tv version who was an outstanding citizen and upheld the laws of this country. Go Dawg Go!!!!

Maybe you didnt catch my meaning behind th Buford Pusser comment and just wanted to run off at the mouth some more. Does it matter why he was busting them or the fact that he busted them. And how do you know so much about the real Buford Pusser did you work for him or were you friends with him or do you just believe what you see and read. My refrence to Buford Pusser was simply that we need someone who isn't afraid to kick a** and take names.

I remember when Randall busted up moonshine stills with a "big Stick." Smiling

I bet you will be standing right next to your new B.P. when he is in Federal Court for all the kicking A-- you want him to do. Maybe you could be his new legal council. If he does his job your way now, it's a good thing he's not supervising anybody yet. Even Batman reported to the Commissioner. All joking aside I want Fayette cleaned up as much as you do but I think we need someone with the experience to make the right decisions in situations that are going to effect a whole County as well as a whole Department.

Well since we are making comic book refrences now as to how a sheriff should run his dept.Yes you are right that Batman did answer to the commissioner, and that is exactly the what is wrong with this county today the COMMISSIONER per say, too many politicians have their hands in pervebial cookie jar. So I guess we should just just let the county commissioners be the sheriff.

Nice response to the issue of your candidate being to young and inexperienced to command any leadership or authority toward his deputies but when Fayette needs a tactical officers to be the first one through the door, Tom is the man (if his supervisor will let him).

There are some of us that know him professionally and personally. There is a difference. He definitely needs a few more years under his belt. I don't care to list the reasons why. Those that know him best, will agree. He might make a great Sheriff one day. Just not now.

That’s the problem with having a young inexperienced Deputy as the new Sheriff. It sounds like he may have the right idea about trying to clean up Fayette but you can’t do it by dragging every one with a Clayton County Tag to the county line and kicking them in the butt and telling them not to ever come back again. Maybe in another five or ten years Tom will have the experience and wisdom that it takes to be a good leader. Also you must not be friends with many Deputies in Fayette, because they all pretty much agree that Tom does not have the time in service or the maturity to be the next Sheriff.
