Tyrone Police and tickets

Wake up Tyrone council members! You voted in lower speed zones all over town and a stop sign on every corner, now, you have the police preying on us at every opportunity. No on gets a warning, just a big fat ticket, and yes, they jack up how fast you were going. We are already overtaxed and this borders on harrasment! Can't you think up another way to make money? How bout either getting a few of the police to go fight real crime or fire a few of the young overboard ones? This is all we are getting for our overtaxation and it isn't fair/

Poor baby! I saw Tyrone running radar that morning, and guess what! It didn't scare me because I was going between 35 to 40 in a 35 zone. I have been driving in, around, and through Tyrone for 36 years and never been pulled over. I used to live where I had to pull out of a side road onto Tyrone Road and it was quite a challenge to do so without being mowed down by speeders.

Before you get your panties in a bunch, yes I got a ticket. Yes I broke the law. But the law is only there to generate revenue.

I was caught in the Tyrone speed trap. I was traveling south-east on Tyrone Road approximately 1 1/2 miles from highway 74, when I encounted the flashing lights, I pull on to a side street. The nice officer (just doing his job, bless his heart) informed me I was clocked going 48 mph in a 35 mph zone. I looked at the speed limit sign on the side street where I had pulled off, (kids playing in yards of the homes lining the quiet street)and the speed limit on this street is 45 mph.

I said officer, "how can that be right?" "The speed limit on Tyrone Road is 35 mph?" He said "yes, thats right." The side road we were now sitting on is in Fayette County not Tyrone. We had crossed out of the "green (money) zone".

If you travel north/west from the same intersection of 74 and Tyrone Road the same distance, about 1 1/2 miles, you reach Fulton County. The speed limit there is 50 mph.

Same road, same traffic, the only difference is Tyrone. I guess in the old days, when you came alone in your stage coach, they would rob you at gun point and call it a "tax".

So next time you are riding my bumper along Tyrone Road while I'm going 35 mph, instead of giving me the finger thank me for saving you the $130.00.

I agree with you regarding the council’s approval to reduce the speed limits just to increase revenues. I would ask that you remember who voted in favor of making those changes during the next election.

I don’t agree with you when you stated the council needs to find ways to make more money. In lieu of making more money they need to find ways to cut costs.

Remember, the police can not give you a ticket for obeying the speed limit.

How sad. It sounds like somebody's having a little fit because they got caught doing somethign wrong. You're right though, speed limits and such are so frivilous - and they especially shouldn't apply to you. I can't believe those cops... targeting people who are breaking the law... DOWN WITH THE MAN!!!
