I was reading some news for the day,mostly about Khalid Dunham Al-Jawary,the news decribes him as a shadowy figure that has so many aliases it's almost impossible to know which country he can be from.I have never been one to believe in coincedences,nothing happens by chance.Our President Obama's mother's name is or was Stanley Ann Dunham,I also know that Washington thinks nothing of the fact that our very own Obama has a few aliases under his belt,I wonder if this is common,I always thought people who had many aliases had something to hide, at least in these days.I don't know, Obama makes my very own SPIRIT jump,and not in any good way.It does seem however that all these people are related in one way or another.Wouldn't that be a kick in the teeth.My personal opinion is that OBAMA fits the description of the Shadowy figure.Besides having the name HUSSEIN in the middle and his mother having the last name DUNHAM that makes them all related.The name HUSSEIN means complete submission to ALLAH.I guess Stanley Ann Dunham,since born in Kansas, just happen's to have Al-Jawary middle name.So what's up with the middle names,my conclusion then is they having family names that all match middle eastern names must somehow make them related, do you think? There is something going on rigth in front of America's face and they are missing it.You will know a good man, out of the good treasures of his heart brings forth good things,and an evil man out of the evil treasures brings forth evil.

I wound up here by following one of my favorite southern authors - Ronda Rich, who has a "Lifestyles" article and a blog here. I sort of followed her example of writing about nostalgic things... in my case, life in the 1950's Georgia. But since I get few (if any) comments, I don't have a clue if anyone is reading - or worse yet - wondering what the heck I am doing here.

Fayette District Attorney Scott Ballard has asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for a criminal probe into Tyrone’s finances. GBI Agent Larry Duen went to Tyrone last December and is continuing this year to examine records and interview past and present Tyrone officials. Duen said he has already talked to previous Town Managers Barry Amos & Valerie Caldwell. Ex Mayor Sheryl Lee was also interviewed. D. A. Ballard asked the GBI to center its investigation around the $36,000 in vacation pay that Ms. Caldwell paid to herself and Amos in Nov. & Dec. 2007 under the old Council’s watch. Mayor Lee was alleged to have given Caldwell authorization to write the checks contrary to the Employee Payment Plan. Agent Duen said the investigation could take 4-5 months; and when complete the findings will be sent to the Fayette D.A. to decide if any criminal indictments are appropriate under the law. The Tyrone Council had refused to do its own investigation and have egg on their faces, trying to hide the GBI investigation from their citizens. Let this embarrassment be a lesson to all elected officials to stop secrecy in government and let the people know what is going on.

I would like the people of Peachtree City and others who read this to ponder my question. What would happen to you if you were arrested for a crime at your workplace? How many of you believe that you would be able to keep your job without any repercussions? So how does Bernie still have a job? Why are citizens not outraged that the man who placed Peachtree City in the fiasco it is currently in, still have a great, beautiful job.

Having graduated with Mike Duke at FCHS, I was surprised to see that he graduated in 1957, when I graduated in 1967. Mike graduated with some of the highest averages in our class. He played football and baseball for FCHS. Once, in a football drill, after Mike had already done his turn, Coach Hill needed one more person to do over and under so the final two players could do the drill. Without a second's thought, Mike said, "I'll do it." He had just finished doing his turn. He'll make a good leader for Wal Mart.

I watched the inauguration with hundreds of other Democrats on Tuesday and I would say that 98% of them were white. The room we were in was filled with applause, tears, laughter and a sense of community that I had not felt in a long time. We all watched with collective anticipation as the clock approached 12:00 noon because we knew at that moment our country would have a new President, a man who obviously we had all supported and had voted for. And after Obama took the oath of office and the inauguration continued, while Joseph Lowery delivered his prayer, we continued to watch and listen to the words with respect and deference for this Civil Rights icon. I must admit, however, when he uttered the phrase "and white will embrace what is right", I was taken aback by his words, offended really, that he would insinuate that whites did not embrace what is right, especially at this moment when all I could see around me were white people who HAD embraced what they believed to be right, by voting for Obama. If it weren't for the millions of white people in this country who voted for Obama, he would not have been elected President.

I have gotten used to the lake being below capacity for almost two years now. I do not drive by it as much as I used to, now that 74 is not a construction nightmare so I haven't noticed the lake level.

A peaceful 'coup d'ete' occurred last night at the Jan Airport Authority meeting as Mike Brady threw his hat into the ring at the last minute and was selected as chair for 2009. Longtime member, airshow host, and current chair Jerry Cobb did not receive a second for his nomination effectively making Mike the chair.

One of my favorite sections of the Reader's Digest used to be "My Most Unforgettable Character". I never could pick a favorite from the many characters I have collected over the years, but one of them had to be Laughin' Man.

We attended a reception for the kids and their parents last night at McIntosh High School. What I didn't realize was that it was also an award ceremony for the kids who have made it this far. Our county has 65 kids in the program at this point and I think it speaks volumes about our schools and about our kids that we can have this large a contingent with only 5 high schools involved.
