Pearson charged, denied bond

A 65-year-old Fayette man wept quietly Wednesday as authorities entered four charges of malice murder against him in the shooting deaths of four females earlier in the week.

Isaac Jerry Pearson, 65, faces four counts of malice murder for the shootings of Barbara Clark, Donnie Gee, Nicole Underwood and Daeyana Burton. Sheriff's deputies found the bodies early Tuesday morning at the Deer Forest Road home Pearson shared with Clark.

When Magistrate Judge A.K. Melear asked if he understood, Pearson simply nodded his head affirmatively.

Pearson did answer some of Melear's other questions, saying that Clark was his “common-law” wife and they had lived here six months after moving from Cincinnati.

Gee, 60, was identified as the 62-year-old Clark's sister. Underwood, 16, was Gee's daughter and 3-year-old Daeyana was Gee's granddaughter.

The warrants stated that the killings took place between 2 and 3 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies answered a 911 call early that morning and found Pearson outside the house waiting for them. The victims were found inside, each with bullet wounds.

Law enforcement officials have been fairly tight-lipped as far as details of the case are concerned, saying that the investigation is ongoing. Nothing has been released that would suggest a motive, but investigators may have one, although they will say only that Pearson has given a statement to them.

Pearson was not represented by an attorney Wednesday, so Melear set a second hearing for Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. in Magistrate Court. Melear said he was not permitted to set bond since it is a murder case.

Pearson's brother, son and nephew were in the courtroom, having just flown down from Cincinnati. None of them would speak to reporters.

Pearson, who worked in real estate in Clayton County, has no prior criminal record.
