Clayton State to hold 5K for scholarships

There will be a 5K for H2K at CCSU on 2/12.

Translated that means that the Clayton College & State University (also known as CCSU) Homecoming 2000 (also known as H2K) will feature a five kilometer (or 5K, or 3.1 mile) road race on Feb. 12, 2000. Award-winning (both as a coach and as a runner) Clayton State Cross Country and Track Coach Mike Mead is serving as the race director.

An annual highlight of the Clayton State Homecoming, the 5K run will start at 9 a.m. from in front of the University's Athletics and Fitness Center and will follow the previous year's rolling, two-loop course on the school's Morrow campus. Following the 5K will be a 3K walk (starting at 9:15 a.m.) and a 3K dog jog (starting at 9:45 a.m.).

Proceeds from all three events will benefit CCSU student scholarships. The entry fee for the 5K is $12 by Jan. 20, and $15 afterwards. The fees for the 3K events are $8 by Jan. 20, and $12 thereafter. Race Day registrations will be accepted, and, in keeping with the University's emphasis on technology, on-line registrations can now be made at www.clayton.edu/alumni.

Awards will be given in 14 men's and 14 women's age groups, plus special awards for the first CCSU student, faculty member and staff member. All registered participants will receive a T-Shirt.

For further information, call the Clayton State Alumni Office at 770-961-3580.
