Assembly of God adopts new path for new century

The Fayette Assembly of God has just celebrated its tenth anniversary and has decided to enter the new millennium by changing some of the ways it has been doing things. It has decided to “Remember the Past by Reaching to the Future.”

The Rev. Chuck Griffin, who has served the church since its beginning in 1989, said that the placement of the pulpit will be adjusted so that more of the woods behind the church can be appreciated, the style of worship will be changed to reflect more emphasis on a single subject and more funds will be set aside for missions.

Missions, church members felt, should be a top priority.

“All of this was decided,” said Griffin, “by members of the congregation. They felt the service should be more celebratory and I appreciate the good ideas they have come up with.

“One of the things that came out of the meeting was adding more theological training to our leadership training. We firmly believe in the three E's — Exalt God, Edify and Equip Believers — and the need to evangelize the world, and additional training will help us carry this out,” he added.

He is married to Sherry, and they are the parents of Maci, 9 and Cami, 4.

Sunday morning worship is at 10:45 a.m. with School of the Bible at 9:45 a.m.

The church is at 1144 Ga. Highway 92 south and can be reached at 770-719-0322.
