News Briefs

The city of Fayetteville continues to look for a taker for the historic Dorsey House on Long Avenue. The home is in the path of planned construction of a new jail and judicial complex by Fayette County, and the city hopes an enterprising local person or organization will move the house to another location and restore it for use as an office or dwelling.

There's no charge for the house, but you have to move it by April.

For information, phone 770-461-6029.

To solve occasional low water pressure in the River's Edge Community, Fayette County Water System is connecting with the Clayton County Water System to provide water for the community, which spans the county line.

The Fayette County solicitor general's office needs volunteer advocates to help victims of crime cope with the aftermath and go through the judicial process in the prosecution of the offender.

Volunteers are needed specifically to accompany victims to court, notify victims of court status including hearing dates, and provide follow-up to victims throughout the justice process to determine the victims' needs at any given time. Phone Bonnie Campbell, victim witness advocate, 770-716-0431, ext. 3425.
