A teenage sexual encounter in a parked car in Peachtree City last week has led to three arrests on statutory rape, indecency and underage alcohol charges.

According to reports, officers responded Friday night to a call concerning disorderly children throwing beer bottles from a vehicle in Braelinn Village. The car in question was found in the parking lot of Braelinn Ponds city park.

Police found a male in the front seat of the 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix and a male and female in the back seat. The occupants were instructed to exit the vehicle, after which only the male in the back seat was able to produce a driver's license, police said.

The smell of alcoholic beverages led police to perform a voluntary field sobriety test on the youth who had been sitting in the front, and he failed with a .023 reading, which is above the maximum alcohol for a minor, reports said. The ensuing search of the car produced two 12-packs of beer, which the other male said were his, and a pair of panties, which the female admitted were hers, police said.

While en route to the station, officers learned that the girl was only 15 years old, not 17 as she had earlier told police.

The youth who had shared the back seat with her said that she told him she was 16 and that they had consensual sexual intercourse.

The girl's mother advised police that she would press charges against the boy for statutory rape. He also was charged with minor in possession of alcohol and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

The boy in the front seat was charged with minor in possession of alcohol, driving on a cart path and being in the park after dark. The girl was charged with giving a false name and date of birth, as well as public indecency.
