'In the Fullness of Time' celebrates true spirit of the holiday

It is the largest community Christmas musical in the Southern Crescent and has been attended by over 35,000 people.

“In the Fullness of Time” tells the old story of Christmas with a new perspective.

Melly Meadows, a native of Clayton County, is the show's playwright, director and choreographer. The touring musical has made a name for itself around the country and is an annual tradition in the South. Meadows also is internationally known for her work as an international spokesperson for Georgia in the role of Scarlett O'Hara.

The musical is based out of Morrow, and is presented free of charge to the community.

“I wanted to produce a musical that would bring all people together,” Meadows said. She has certainly met that goal. The cast and crew range in age from 6 to 80 and has included seven area pastors, eight ministers of music, a leader from a Jewish Synagogue, an ordained Catholic deacon, the special events music coordinator for the Martin Luther King Center for Nonviolent Social Change, and at least one nearly newborn baby who is the star of Bethlehem.

The musical celebrates the spirit of the holiday with exciting music and dance, as well as moving and flying angels. The angels are on stands, creating a type of living Christmas tree that excites and enchants its audience. “The show is complete with all the gifts,” said drama coach Ginny Leader. “It has drama, dance and worship. It is truly a gift to the community.”

The show will make a goodwill offering to Bridgover, a nonprofit organization designed to help those in need. The show is presented for free at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center.

For ticket information, phone 770-603-1099, or 1-800-662-STAY for group rates. The show will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
