Soccer

The Soccer Centre presents the Atlanta Indoor Championships to be played during the Christmas Holidays. Age groups include Under 8 through Under 19 and High School for both boys and girls. There will be separate divisions for Athena, Classic, Premier and Rec All Star Teams. Each team is guaranteed three games with trophies to all players on the first and second place teams. The Soccer Centre in Fayetteville presents The Christmas Soccer Camp Dec. 21, 22, & 23. Sharpen your skills with the professionals, camp directors Mike Balson, Ian Gillies and Angus McAlpine. Mike played professional ball in England, South Africa and the United States, Ian played professional ball in Scotland and South Africa and Angus is the former head coach of the US u-16 and u-20 National teams as well as the assistant coach of the US Olympic Team. The Soccer Centre in Fayetteville is accepting registrations for muppets (four- and five-year olds) for the season, which starts on Jan. 10, The fee is $45 and the season is seven games long. Call 770-460-8785.

The winter indoor adult soccer leagues will kick-off inJjanuary at The Soccer Centre in Fayetteville. The Centre will host Men's Open, Coed, 30 and over, and Masters (40 and over). All leagues will begin the week of Jan. 10. Each team will play seven games plus a post-season playoff; registration is $490 per team. Call 770-460-8785.

Miscellaneous

Registration is now open for The Ten Star All Star Basketball Camp. Boys and girls ages 10-18 are eligible. Past participants include Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Grant Hill and Antawn Jamison. Camp locations are in Atlanta, GA, Raleigh N.C, Center Valley, PA, Bristol,VA, Delaware, OH, Marion, IN, and Mobile, Ala. The Robert Sapp Christmas Baseball Camps are accepting applications for its sessions to be held Dec. 28-30. Hitting Camp will be Dec. 28-29 and pitching-catching camp will be held Dec. 29-30. Both camps will be held at Foley Field on the University of Georgia campus and are for boys ages 10-18. UGA head Coach Robert Sapp will be amp director and assistant coaches Matt Donahue and David Perno will be on the camp staff as well as other top high school and college coaches. Several professional scouts will also be in attendance.

The camp will feature live hiting, pitching and catching as well as drills, lectures and demonstrations. Fundamentals and take home drills will be emphasized. Each camper will be video taped for evaluation and each camper will receive a camp T-shirt. Indoor facilities wil be used in case of inclement weather. Registration for the Fayette Flames spring track program will be held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. beginning on Jan. 17 -28. Registration will also be available Jan. 22 and 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The registration site will be the Fayette County Recreation Center on Redwine Rd.
