The
Fayetteville Optimist Club has chosen two
students from Fayette County High School as its
Outstanding Youth for 1999.
Senior
Jasmine Black is a member of the school Beta
Club, color guard and symphonic band. Last year
she was captain of the varsity swim team and
lieutenant of the marching band.
Additionally,
she participates in community service projects as
well as being active in her church.
She
has applied to three colleges and expects to
major in biology or Latin American studies,
anticipating a career as a marine biologist or
the foreign diplomatic corps.
Adam
Ellis is a senior at Fayette County High School.
He has worked all four years on the annual staff
and is editor in chief this year.
He
is in his second year in the Select Chorus as
well as the quartet. He belongs to the French
Club, Key Club, varsity track and cross country.
Currently he is a member of the Beta Club,
National Honor Society, Student Government and
Theatrix.
As
members of the Beta Club, these students visit
LaFayette Nursing home each week and deliver
Meals on Wheels once a month in Clayton County.
The
Optimist Outstanding Youth were presented with a
plaque.
